    1. ([PADELAWA])PENNOCK Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of photographs which I believe all belong to the PENNOCK Family of Pennsylvania. The first photograph is one of Isabella L. PENNOCK Jr. which was take at the Gilbert & Bacon Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Isabella likely in her 20's or 30's at the time. She is also identified as "Aunt Belle" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is of Alice PENNOCK and was taken at the Husted Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Alice likely in her 30's at the time it was taken. Alice is also identified as "Aunt" on the back of the photograph. In addition there are two photographs of young girls, both taken at the Phillips Studio in Philadelphia, PA in the 1890's with the girls appearing to be about 4 to 8 years old at the time. I believe the two young girls are also members of the PENNOCK Family. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Isabella Liddon PENNOCK was b. 5 May 1853 in Holmesburg, PA to parents George PENNOCK (1812-1900) and Sarah SELLERS (1812-1892). Isabella was one of 10 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth; Anna S.; Sarah Wistar; Jane Sellers; John Sellers; Alice; Mary Coleman; Isabella Liddon; Edward M.; and Alma L. PENNOCK, all born between 1836 and 1861. Isabella never married and she died 12 Aug 1920 in South Heidelberg or Lansdowne or Wernersville, PA and is buried in the Friends Southwestern Burial Ground in Upper Darby, PA. Her sister Alice PENNOCK was b. 6 Apr 1846 in Holmesburg, PA and was also unmarried, she died 1 Jul 1944 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried in the same cemetery as her sister. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who is, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. ([PADELAWA])PERKS Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" three photographs belonging to the PERKS Family of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The first is a photograph of George A. PERKS who was the son of Richard & Eliza PERKS and the half-brother of William Townsend PERKS Sr. The photograph was taken at the P. Edward D. Chillman & Co. Studio in Philadelphia, PA sometime in the 1880's. The second photograph is one of William PERKS Sr. with his wife Mary PERKS and their son William T. PERKS Jr. which was taken at their summer home in Wildwood, NJ. William PERKS Jr. is a toddler at the time the photograph was taken. There are a number of unidentified people in the photograph as well. The final photograph of identified as William "Bill" PERKS at First National Bank of Philadelphia with Mike BORTULIN and Mr. HILDEBRAND. This photograph is of I believe William Jr. and was probably taken in the early 1900's with Bill appearing to be in his 30's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this PERKS Family: George Amos PERKS was b. 2 Apr 1850 in Kidderminster, England to parents Richard PERKS (1824-1884) and Eliza STARR (1823-1869). George was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Clara Ann; Agnes; George Amos; Letitia; Evalina; Caroline Taylor; Emma Marcella; and Harry Franklin PERKS, all born between 1846 and 1864. After Eliza passed away Richard PERKS remarried Annie MCGRATH (1846-1879) and had four additional children including, Harry T.; William Townsend; Richard Stanley; and Walter Whitman PERKS, all born between 1871 and 1879. George's father remarried a third time after the death of his second wife to Leonettie ELMER (1847-1897) but didn't have additional children. George married Iola H. ISZARD (1855-1911) and together they had a daughter, Emma Sommers PERKS (1877-1877). George died 1 Apr 1888 in Camden, NJ. William Townsend PERKS Sr. was b. 19 May 1873 in Camden, NJ to parents Richard PERKS and Annie MCGRATH and died 20 Mar 1953 in Havertown, PA and is buried in the Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken, NJ. His wife was Mary Elizabeth BOWNE (1871-1950). They had a son William Townsend PERKS Jr. was b. 5 Apr 1905 in Camden, NJ. Son William Jr. married Clara May GIPE (1909-1999) in 1935 and he died 19 Jul 1992 in Fort Lauderdale, FL and is buried in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, PA. I am hoping to locate someone from this PERKS Family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. ([PADELAWA])BURR - STOLZE Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of 7 photographs of Helen BURR including one that includes Alta STOLZE. Some of the photographs are dated 1923 and 1925 and Helen appears to be in her early to late teens in all. The photograph with Alta and Helen together is from the same time frame most likely with Helen appearing to be about 14 years old and Alta is older. There is a definite familial resemblance between the two of them. There are no studios or locations identified, however, the photographs were located with others from Pennsylvania so I'm thinking they are probably from there. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information in census records regarding Alta and her family: 1930 census of Upper Darby, PA: Hans STOLZE, age 51, married at age 24, born PA, parents born Germany, a Photographer Alta F. STOLZE, wife, age 43, married at age 21, born PA, parents born PA Helen B. STOLZE, dau, age 19, born PA 1940 census of Haverford, PA: Hans H. STOLZE, age 60, born PA, a Paper Salesman Alta STOLZE, wife, age 52, born PA + 1 Lodger + 1 Visitor I'm wondering if Helen the daughter of Alta STOLZE is actually Helen Burr STOLZE? Or if Helen STOLZE became Helen BURR? I am hoping to return the group of photographs to a member of this family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Marylee Young
    3. Do you still have the Blaul photo? Henrietta Blaul who married Alonzo Potter Young is my husband's grandmother. He is John T. Young, son of Louis A. Young and Mary Sweeney Young. Louis A. Young is the son of Alonzon Potter Young and Henrietta Blaul Young. Henrietta's brother had a photography studio in Philadelphia and the photo was probably taken there. I have some photos of Henrietta but not sure if it is the same as the one you speak about. This message was forwarded to me by my niece, Paula Young. Please let me know how to go about getting this photo. If you have acces to Ancestry.com or Family Search\ you can see a partial family tree posted. It is called the Young Family Tree and posted by me, Mary Lee (Hartzell) Young. Please e-mail a response. Thank you so much. Mary Lee Young mlyoungvt@earthlink.net

    1. ([PADELAWA])Re: [PADELAWA] "Lithuanian Holy Cross Cemetery" Request: GEDVILAS
    2. Debra Cloud-Leight
    3. Vince, Just a quick search of Ancestry.com found the attached death certificate. The surname is spelled different, but otherwise matches what you said. I found the Holy Cross Cem on Findagrave, but no listings for either spelling of her name. I also did a quick search of newspapers.com, using both spellings of Gedvilas. There were a couple... one may have been a Vincent Gedvilas and the other was Peter, but both articles were in papers that required payment (11.95) to read. The only paper that had something free to read was for Peter Jr. as a pallbearer for a Joseph Ulavage in the Evening Herald, Shenandoah, PA. That's the best I have time for right now.... Good luck with your search On Sat, Mar 24, 2018 at 10:03 AM, Vincent E. 2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. If you are considering visiting the above cemetery, will you please check for the presence of stones for, Elizabeth GEDVILAS -- elsewhere called Anna E. GEDVILAS (1889-Dec 1924) Peter Paul GEDVILAS -- unknown dates, but possibly died 1924. Here's the skinny: This couple had a child, P.P. Jr., who was later adopted. The family story was the dad attempted to shoot the child, but killed the mother instead. Then he committed suicide. The child was adopted. He is, indeed, an "ado. son" in the 1930 Philadelphia census, aged 15. Now a death cert was later discovered for the mom, saying she died of myocarditis in 1924. What the disparity is about, I can't yet say for certain. There is no name mentioned or stone presented thus far for either of this couple. Your help would be wonderful, since the grandson (who is the interested party) lives in Arizona. If you can, a digital photo would be cool. If not, a verification with transcription would be great. I realize there would be records, but I suspect they would require a donation, and so I don't ask for that. Thanks, Vince Summers

    1. [PADELAWA] BLAUL - YOUNG Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Yettie BLAUL which was taken at the Blaul & Co. Studio in Philadelphia, PA. I don't know if "Yettie" is a nickname or her actual first name. Someone has also written "Be" or "Ze" on the reverse of the photograph. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or early 1890's with the young woman likely in her teens or 20's at the time. The word "Penfield" is also written on the bottom of the photograph as well, note sure if it refers to a school or neighborhood or group or family name. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding who I believe is pictured in the photograph: Henrietta "Yettie" BLAUL was born 12 Mar 1861 in Poughkeepsie, NY to parents Jacob BLAUL (b. Germany) and Henrietta CLAUZ (born Germany) and married Alonzo Potter YOUNG (b. 20 Oct 1858 in Philadelphia, PA) in 1890 in Philadelphia, PA and together they had three children including, Raymond Blaul; Louis A.; and Margerite V. YOUNG all born in Philadelphia, PA between 1891 and 1896. By 1922 they were in living in Los Angeles, CA. Henrietta BLAUL YOUNG died 4 Nov 1936 in Narberth, PA and was buried in Lancaster, PA. Census records provide the following information regarding the BLAUL Family: 1870 census of Lancaster, PA: Jacob BLAUL, age 43, a Cooper, born Bavaria Henrietta BLAUL, age 47, Keeping House, born Bavaria Louis BLAUL, age 15, a Confectioners Apprentice, born NY Clara BLAUL, age 14, at Home, born NY Catharine BLAUL, age 11, born NY Henrietta BLAUL, age 9, born NY (I believe that this is Yettie a nickname for Henrietta) John H.
