The PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD's main line went through Highspire. Bethlehem Steel operated their own railroad, known as the S & H Railroad (presumably for Steelton-Highspire). The P and R (Philadelphia and Reading RailRoad) had terminals in Middletown, Highspire, Steelton AND Harrisburg. Employees in all locations, so if someone worked for the railroad in those localities, DO NOT overlook the smaller, less known railroads. Perhaps you could contact some railroad buff for more details if you need them to track down ancestors. I knew a guy who worked in the Steelton office for the P&R. My mother worked in the Middletown P&R office building. My wife's Uncle Jake was killed in Royalton by a falling rail at age 37. What railroad company? We don't know, and haven't found that documentation. The newspaper obit didn't say.
