I am interested in any information about Riker/ Rickert/ Richert/ Reichert etc family of Harrisburg in the 1830-1850 census. There are many ways of spelling this name. They proliferated faster than would have been possible given the two or so of them who were there by 1830, and John Sr's and Jr's proliferated the most exponentially quickly. I suspect that some of them were sons of John Riker/ Richart of Cecil County, Maryland in the 1830 census, and that their presence in Harrisburg accounts for how a son of their sister, who married Thomas Moore of southern Chester County, PA, ended up in the Harrisburg area, his father having apparently died, or else beamed back to the mother ship, before he was ten.
