    3. Gwen, My ancestor, Harvey( Henrich) Collins, was born 1809. His folks were Reuben Collins (beleived to be Irish) and Susannah Wenrich (known to be German). Susannah's father, Francis, donated the grounds to what is now the St. Thomas Church. The cemetery there was known as Wenrich's. In the deed when he donated the land, the United Reformed (German) and the Presbyterian (Scots-Irish) churches were listed as the recipients. There was quite a mixture of German/English/Irish in Dauphin County in 1790. Now how Reuben and Susannah came to meet is an interesting question. Reuben, who appeared to be about the age of 25, and Susannah, who was 16, were married by Justice of the Peace Peterson, in Middletown. Why she would marry there instead of the church where her father was an Elder is a good question, but about 6 1/2 months later their first daugher Eva was born then baptized at Wenrich's Church. So maybe that's the answer to the good question! My ancestor, Harvey, was baptized as Henirich at Wenrich's. The Collin's move to Perry County in the 1840's, but were back in Dauphin County, Millersburg, by the 1850's. So, that's one explanation!
