Bob, she tells me to say hello to you, remembering you from school - she was the school nurse. The ladies (Cassie Wright, President - 939-6806) have been working on this history project for a while, and have the support of Jennie's son, a history teacher from the Steel-High school. He's done much, I understand, in documenting the area's history. I spent the past two days searching for a listing of all of Highspire's Postmasters, and finally found it just after talking with Jennie. Jeremiah KIRK is recorded as taking charge Dec. 2, 1829. He was followed by a long list of Lower Swatara residents: Alleman, Garman, Stoners (Henry, Milton, and U.S.), Ruth and Parthemore, just to name a few. The Highspire Historical Society is being assisted by the state somehow, and I would imagine there is a lot of Lower Swatara Township history in their files. I plan on attending their next meeting. Just missed last night's, and this morning's meeting was called off due to threatening weather. -- Regards, CHARLES EARL FIES -- Fies Family Fotos <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/> FIES/FEES Family History Research Site <http://www.fies-fees.org> BABB - HARTMAN <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/Babbs.html> DAUPHIN CO.
