Bonnie, While reading your mail about E-Bay and you do have a good point am I correct in believing you are a THARPE? If so, are you researching the family name and from the Lawrence County, PA area? Do you have MAXWELLs and GARDNERs (sp) mixed in with the THARPEs family name? Thanks! Posting by someone unidentifiable (could be seller, could be not) who subs, posts, and runs: really rude, and inappropriate. Definitely something the admin is supported in trying to stop. Posting by a regular participant in the list of items on topic, not sold by them---that's up to the admin. In the latter case, if Sally is a regular participant on the list, and she occasionally finds items of real genealogical interest (books or what have you) pertaining to Wombat County that she isn't interested in buying (too pricey, already have, wrong end of county), that's not entirely off-topic for the Wombat County list, *if* the admin approves. IMO, however, it's not really the job of list subscribers to help eBay sellers sell their items, regardless of reason. It's just too easy for anyone who's really interested to go to eBay, set up personal notifications for "Wombat County", and find the items themselves if they want to. The function of RW lists (other than the handful of marketplace type lists) really isn't selling *anything*.
