I admire anybody for wanting to take on the task of putting cemetery records on-line as it helps others too.. I wished I lived in the area and was computer savy, I'd try to do something like this..I'm sure there must be computer savy volunteers out there in the Harrisburg area that you might enlist their help. Why not contact the cemetery office and make an offer. Maybe somebody has already started putting them on to computer..and could use some help..Oberlin Cemetery's caretaker is trying to do the same thing. I know that these cemeteries must be swamped with genealogist asking for information on burials..I don't object to paying a reasonable fee for a lot of names..but for one look-up of one name..it is a little steep.. I just paid $9 for 2 obits from Reading Public Library. One obit I had exact date but the other I only had the month and year from SSDI..It was expensive but it was cheaper than me going there, since I live in Maryland, about 30 miles from WashDC. I wish some congress rep. would present a bill before congress to require the funeral directors to update their records on-line once a month and make it available to the public on a web site..like Vital Records. Even if Vital Records had a subscription fee, to make the records accessible..Just a thought!
