An aunt pinpointed her parents burial lots, and while I found great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, there were no stones for grandparents; just an empty space. Reporting this to my aunt, she said, "I thought so! That cheap brother of hers that inherited the house, the furniture, and everything else therein was too cheap to buy headstones, even though he promised everyone involved that he would!" Not to be dismayed by this story, I looked around the cemetery until I found the stone of another George, photographed that, and placed it in the appropriate place on my genealogy page, finally giving my grandparents a headstone where they had none before. The cemetery involved had no active caretakers and no one to confirm burial locations. In many other instances the caretakers gladly dig up their old files, and provide details of what names are associated with what burial sites. Have a nice day - it looks great for shooting headstones, which I intend to do this fine morning. Regards, with regrets to Netscape6 users (what a mess!)
