I have a print out of the pension card from Ancestry which states: Name: William B. Morrow Widow: Morrow, Anna M. Service: B 2 Pa. Prov. H. A. There are two listings for "Date of Filing," one for invalid and one for widow. My main question is what is B 2 Pa. Prov. H. A.? >From the Pa. State Archives Card Files; MORROW, William B...............E-2A............[company E of 2nd artillery???????????] enrolled 29 Feb 1864 at Chambersburg, Pa. mustered in 29 Feb 1864 at Chambersburg, Pa. height 5feet, 5&1/2 inches age=25 hair= light eyes= gray complexion= fair occupation= shoemaker born=Cumberland county, Pa. Transferred 22 April 1864 to 2nd Prov. Artillery M&D Roll gives age as 35 Also try posting your question to the Pa. Civil War list. There are some real experts there on this subject. _http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Military:_US_Civil_War/PA-CIVIL-WAR.htm l_ (http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Military:_US_Civil_War/PA-CIVIL-WAR.html) And if you have those pension application numbers. invalid and widow, you can go to the National Archives in Washington and retrieve the original documentation of all his medical records. Some of these files are pretty graphic describing their injuries and ailments and provide entire family names and stuff relevant to genealogy. They have a card file there with the numbers if they wern't provided at ancestry.com.
