I am trying to figure out where to get more Civil War information. I have a print out of the pension card from Ancestry which states: Name: William B. Morrow Widow: Morrow, Anna M. Service: B 2 Pa. Prov. H. A. There are two listings for "Date of Filing," one for invalid and one for widow. My main question is what is B 2 Pa. Prov. H. A.? Nora Researching: Farner, Morrow, Evans, Manley, Richardson, Brubaker
Hope you get more help than I can give but I believe your abbreviation stands for 2nd Battalion of the Pennsylvania Heavy Artilary. I just don't know what the Prov. is for. Try this site for Civil War information: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ There are 29 William Morrows from Pennsylvania. The one you have the card for is: Morrow, William B. Union Artillery 2nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (112th Volunteers) Morrow, William B. Union Artillery 2nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Provisional Heavy Artillery The "B" probably means Company B of the 2nd Regiment, etc. Ray wrote: > Hope you get more help than I can give but I believe your abbreviation > stands for 2nd Battalion of the Pennsylvania Heavy Artilary.
