I am having a lot of difficulty finding anything on the families in the Dauphin & Lebanon and surrounding counties even though the majority of information leads directly to Dauphin and Lebanon Counties!??? We know: * Jacob Witz, b. 1809, d. 1880, Saginaw, MI, married * Sarah Fornwalt, 4 Apr 1812, Lebanon, PA, d. 01 Jan 1882, Saginaw, MI in 31 Jul 1831, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown, Lebanon Cnty, PA, (Jacob's last name was misspelled Metz) and that they had several children born in PA, with two dieing there: * Elisabeth b.13 Apr 1831 PA d.4 Apr 1834 PA; * Caroline b.17 May 1832 PA d. 1890's in MI.; * Magdaline b. 12 Dec 1834 PA d. 27 Nov 1836 PA; * John b. 6 Dec 1836 PA d. 2 Apr 1910 Saginaw, MI. The problem is we can't find where Jacob was born or where his children were born or buried!?? It is believed the family moved to Tiffin, OH, between 1840 & 1850, then moved to Bay City/Saginaw, MI in 1851 or 1852. My GG Grandfather and Great Grandfather were born in Saginaw, MI. Jacob's parents, * John Witz, b. around 1782, PA, d.1851, Ohio, married, unknown place and date, but believed to be somewhere in southeastern Pennsylvania, to * Magdaline (referred to as Mollie, no maiden name) b. 1785, PA d. 1875, Tiffin, Ohio. John & Magdaline Witz moved to Ohio around 1838 from the Dauphin area. No records of them have been found to date in Dauphin or surrounding counties. Jacob's sister * Catherine (Witz) Brestle, b: 15 Oct 1816, PA; d: 9 May 1900, OH married John Brestle somewhere in Dauphin, and they had their first two children there: * Christian B. Brestle, b.16 Sep 1835 Middletown, Dauphin County, PA; and * George W. Brestle (referred to as GW) b. 11 Jan 1837, Dauphin County. PA It's believed they moved to Ohio with John & Magdaline around 1838. Here again, nothing else has been found on them other than they are all buried in the Brestle Family Plot in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio.
