Fellow listers, Eugenie Mell was my grandmother. b. 1883, she grew up near Front and Paxton Sts. in Harrisburg. She completed schooling in Harrisburg and went to Normal School, after which she was a teacher for a few years. She gave her occupation as teacher on her marriage license application in 1905. I'm looking for any info on the educational system that existed in Harrisburg from 1889-1903; for example: did they have a 12 grade system? What Normal School would she have likely attended? My research has not divulged any in Harrisburg proper, so I'm thinking Shippensburg or Millersville. Are there any other nearby schools in the state system to which a not-very-wealthy girl who had to support herself could have attended? Any help will be appreciated, Bill
