I'm new to this list, so if this sounds like an old request, please forgive me. I'm looking for the father of George Sheets, born circa 1813 in Pennsylvania. Down to the Census records of 1840 he was living in Jefferson Twp., Dauphin Co., PA. I believe he died before the 1860 Census and was married to Mary____ b. circa 1816 in PA. They had the following children (all born in PA and assumedly in Jefferson Twp., Dauphin Co.): 1. Joseph J. b. July 1836 2. Isaac, b. ca 1837 3. Lucy Ann b. ca 1839 4. Sarah Ann b. ca 1841 5. Catharine b. ca 1845 6. William H. b. ca 1848 What I'm trying to prove or disprove is who is George's father? I have another George born about the same time who was the son of David Sheets (1775-1854) and Elizabeth Mary _____ (1777-1848) who resided in Adams Co., PA. Is this the same George? By the Census records it looks like a young George may have left his father's Adams Co. farm and went to Dauphin Co. by 1840, but this is only a guess. I have researched most of the available records I could easily get to (see my source listing below). Does anyone have a Will or Intestate listing for this George from Dauphin Co.? I also couldn't find a cemetery listing in the State Library holdings.
