    1. Re: [PADAUPHI] Inquiry about EGLE's Notes & Queries
    2. This is really too funny. A while ago, I wrote FTM and told them they really needed to revamp if they were going to stay viable in today's genealogy market. That they needed to make grassroots changes, and I specifically told them what changes I thought they needed to make and why. It is too much to think this is the response. Most likely, my letter was canned. But I did try to be as sincere as possible, and was very lengthy and specific. Who knows? Maybe someone heard. Naaah! Anyway, in my estimate, they are trying to gain ground they have lost through multiple ownership changes, and the power moves Ancestry has made. So I suspect they are switching to subscriptions, and intend to fly the CD market out the window, dropping it altogether. One cannot give free lookups from subscriptions quite as easily. It takes a lot of work, and discourages massive lookups for free. Also, it lowers overhead. No manufacturing necessary for subscriptions. Not to waste the list's time, I just had to write about this coincidence, and to say it is likely a move by the former Broderbund, to keep from going down like the Titanic.
