As to weavers in the 18th and early 19th century. My ancestor John Anderson is named in A History of Franklin County (PA). It states that he was a weaver by trade who came from Ireland in the early days and settled in this county. What I also found interesting was that at least one male in each succeeding generation was a tailor or saddlemaker and even my father worked in retail selling men's suits and knew good fabric.
