Catherine Hoffman's parents were Henry C Hoffman and Sarah Welker, and that Sarah Welker and Jacob Welker (father of Benneville) were first cousins. I am interested in learning more of his son Isaac and if he shared the same middle initial as his brother James B. Finney. I am also curious if this Isaac Finney moved on to Tuscarawas County. Cyrus ROMBERGER & Son, manufacturers of High Grade Blended Flour. A number of our citizens took advantage of the fine weather during the past week by sowing salad and planting onions. Second-hand Parlor Organs, elegant styles and in good condition, at enormously low prices at A.C. LONG's Music Store. At Private Sale -- The property of the late Thomas ACALEY on North Second street. Apply to Thos. ACALEY, Jr. Holy Communion services in both languages at St. John's Lutheran church on Easter Sunday morning at 9:30. English vesper Easter services at 6:30. Beneville BOYER of Loyalton, who had been suffering since last June with paralysis, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday, aged 70 years, 3 months and 7 days. Lynne "GRATZ FAIR DIRECTORS MEET -- A meeting of the directors of the Gratz Agriculture and Horticulture Association was held at the Commercial hotel, this place, Tuesday. Directors present were Dr. A.G. STANLEY, Charles HOFF, H.H. TALLMAN, Louis WENTZLER, Lykens; Jno. W. DEIBLER, Jos. ROMBERGER, Berrysburg; John MOYER, Preston ARTZ, KLINGER Bros., Gratz. It was decided to supplant the old fence with a new one, and to erect sliding gates instead of the old ones. The next fair will be held Aug. 19, 20, 21 and 22. Everything points to a successful fair this year, and everything done by the management to merit the patronage of the entire surrounding country. M.E. APPOINTMENTS -- The business of the Philadelphia Conference of the M.E. church came to a close at Columbia Tuesday morning by announcing the appointments for the ensuing year. The following have been assigned to charges in this section: Lykens -- A.S. COLLOM Wiconisco -- E. DEVINE Williamstown -- O.E. SLAGDEN Millersburg -- F.A. YAKES Berrysburg -- H.H. POTACHREE Tower City -- W.H. ZWEIZIG B.F. POWELL goes to Upland, Frederick GETTY to Birdsboro, W.H. ASPRIL to Pinegrove, Linn BOWMAN to Girardville, Thos. H. EVANS to Lansdale. S.A HEILNER remains in Philadelphia at St. James church, and Rev. C. Lee GAUL at the 29th Street church. Rev. HEILNER was re-elected a trustee of the Conference, and Revs. Linn BOWMAN and Thos. W. DAVIS were among those passed in the studies of the fourth year and elected to elders' organizations. (Ad for appliances, etc. from the HOFF, RAYMOND & HOFF hardware store) COURT NOTES -- Monday the court reduced the amount to be paid by William EVITTS of this place to his wife, from $2.50 to 2.00 per week. Messrs. Samuel COX, William NEIFFER, of Lykens; Amos LEBO, of Williamstown; Peter MATTER and Daniel KLINGER, of Loyalton, were appointed viewers to assess the damages claimed by Mary E. FRECK, in a suit she brought against the borough of Millersburg, on grading a street passing her property. (Ad for window shades and curtain poles from R. COBLE & Sons) ADMITTED 18 NEW MEMBERS -- Washington Camp No. 238, P.O.S. of A. of this place, admitted 18 new members Tuesday evening, and the event was made a gala affair, visiting members being present from Gratz, Loyalton, Elizabethville, Mt. Carmel, Donaldson, and Williamstown. This brings the membership of the Camp 238 up to 240, being the largest in this section. REV. A.S. COLLOM, the new M.E. minister, will preach in Grace church Sunday morning and this evening. MRS. WM. SHEESLEY, after spending several weeks at Harrisburg with her sister, Mrs. W.W. DAVIDSON, returned home Friday evening."
