    1. [PADAUPHI] HOOVER - RYDER
    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Hello Fellow Listers: I just walked the Falling Spring Reformed Mennonite Church Cemetery which is about 2 miles from Route 30 on Falling Spring Road just outside of Chambersburg. I found the following information on two tombstones which might be of interest to those folks who are researching the HOOVER and RYDER surnames in Dauphin and Franklin Counties. George HOOVER born in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pa. on 14-Sep-1804 and died on 11-Aug-1883 aged 78 yrs., 10 months and 27 days. (4 lines of script under the above information - mostly unreadable) Anna RYDER wife of George HOOVER born on 3-Dec-1806 died on 23-Nov-1886 (7 lines of script under the above information - mostly unreadable) Best Wishes! Donna Heller Zinn of Newville, Cumberland Co., PA.

    1. [PADAUPHI] KEISER - MANNING - NIXDORF - MILLER
    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Hello Fellow Listers: The following was found in a collection of newspaper clippings and I thought it may be of interest to someone on the lists. Donna Heller Zinn of Newville, Cumberland Co., PA. **************** The below article is transcribed from the Harrisburg Telegraph (Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., PA. newspaper) dated 16-Jan-1907: MET AFTER 27 YEARS -------------------------- Harrisburg Railroader and Long Lost Sister in Happy Reunion. Mrs. George E. Nixdorf, of Altoona, and her brother, W. H. Manning, a fireman on the Middle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and residing at 1328 North Seventh street this city, met on Saturday at Mrs. Nixorf's home, after having been separated for a period of 27 years. The story of their long separation and theirn meeting on Saturday is highly romantic and interesting. Mrs. Nixdorf and her brother whose real name is Keiser, were the children of Mr. and Mrs. John Keiser and where born in Juniata county, 12 miles from Mifflintown. There were four children, three of whom are yet living, W. H. being the youngest and Mrs. Nixdorf the oldest. When she was 10 years old and her baby brother but little more than a year old, their mother died. Some time after her death, their father disappeared and none of them have ever seen him since. After their father disappeared, the children were separated. Mrs. Nixdorf went to Lewistown where she grew to womanhood, afterwards becoming a resident of Altoona. Her younger brother was taken in charge by a family named Manning at Duncannon, and the other brother, John H. Keiser was rased by a family at Van Dyke, each eventually losing trace of each other. Until he was 16 years old, the brother was under the impression that Mr. and Mrs. Manning were his parents. Then they told him the circumstances of his life and what his real name was. He, however, has staid with them and has continued to go by the name of Manning to this day. He has been with the railroad company in the capacity of fireman for a number of years, and some time ago boarded for a while in Altoona in ignorance of the fact that his sister lived in that city. Mrs. Nixdorf had heard many years ago that her baby brother had died in infancy with the result that she never by the merest chance that he and his brother got together several weeks ago. A friend had written him aletter, addressing him as Keiser and the postoffice authorities in this city, not knowing him by that name sent the letter to his brothe rat Van Dyke. The latter upon reading it became convinced that the party addressed was his brother and their meeting soon followed. Through their uncle, T. W. Miller, of Altoona, they afterwards learned that their sister was still living and a resident of Altoona and the meeting of the younger brother and the sister followed. The young fireman works between Harrisburg and Altoona, and on Saturday at the end of his run to this city he went to his sister's home.

    1. [PADAUPHI] williams genealogy
    2. Am trying to put together family genealogy for my sons. Their father's early marriage produced a son Carl Edward, born 5/16/49 in Harrisburg (?). The parents divorced and we believe Carl's mother remarried and he was adopted by a stepfather and took that person's name. Carl's biological parents were Robert & Betty Williams. Carl has two half-brothers living in FL. Thanks MM

    1. [PADAUPHI] Enhaut churches 1900-1930
    2. My family was from Enhaut, and my cousin goes to the Swatara Church of God, which was formerly the Enhaut Church of God. She's telling me what to write. The original Church of God was on 2nd Street in Enhaut, which is now an apartment building. In 1931 they moved to a new building on Highland Street and Cumbler Street. In 1972 the Steelton Church of God was flooded, and that congregation joined the Enhaut Church of God congregation, and the name was then changed to Enhaut-Steelton Church of God. In the summer of 1978 the Church of God burned (see _http://www.myspace.com/video/milt/enhaut-church-of-god-fire/4820136_ (http://www.myspace.com/video/milt/enhaut-church-of-god-fire/4820136) ). The congregation met in the Swatara Junior High School for a while, until the new building was built. The fellowship hall was standing after the fire, and some people continued to worship there. In 1981 the new church building was built on Lindle Road at the corner of Keckler Road. Shortly after moving to the new building, the church name was changed to Swatara Church of God. Here is their web site: _http://swatarachurchofgod.org/_ (http://swatarachurchofgod.org/) The site is currently under construction, but it does give an email address for the secretary, who can put you in contact with persons who can help you with information. 2. Hi Nora we corresponded a couple years ago. I have since moved to Dover in York Co PA. I have a part time job doing tours in Gettysburg. No pictures of Willow Mill but I remember going there when I was a little kid and getting stuck for a little while when the small Ferris wheel malfunctioned. I get Willow Mill and Williams Grove moxed up. Perhaps the Cumberland Co Historical Society might have pictures. Is it Willow Mill where they have a live steam train ride. Maybe they have pictures. Good luck Jim Avery Dover PA In a message dated 6/29/2011 1:14:21 P.M. 2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as that of Matilda COX which was taken at the Chas. Jameson Studio in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with Matilda likely in her 40's at the time. I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
