I'm wondering how you made the leap to Somerset? I've suspected for some time that George was related to Thomas Wiar, but could not substatiate it. All info on the first 4 children of George Wiar say they were born in Harrisburg, so I was concentrating on birth/church records for them or marriage record for George & his wives hoping for a mention of his parents, Thomas & who? I also have other information (which of course could be wrong) that the Wiar's trace their heritage to Holland and arrived here to fight in the Revolutionary War. Thanks again, love a new road to go down! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We have a death time but we need to find who was appointed guardian of the children which were several at the time of the father's death 1823. There should be Guardianship or something giving the guardian and names of the children. I scoured the web page excited they have data on line but much to confusing for me to find Grantor or Grantee indexes of early days and no idea where to find the prothonary office data for whom took over guardianship. WE have records part of land sold other part family stayed in because she had the children. We need to verify that Valentine Myers dcd 1823 is our Myers. Family lore and census data not matching at all. Nor does data match the bible, but we think it was written in after the death of his son. Whom do I contact or whom can dig up this data? However, I'm wondering if their surname was originally HORTON, and here's why. On the 1870 Census, Cecelia HORTON, b. abt. 1866 was living in Lancaster, PA with her parents, Charles R. and Agnes J. HORTON, and her baby sister Ann E. b. Feb. 1870. This HORTON family literally disappears after the 1870 Census. I think I found them on the 1880 Census in Harrisburg, PA living at 133 Vine Street...first names, ages, and birthplaces are the same, BUT the surname was listed as "WARREN", and the mother is now just Jennie instead of Agnes J. I'm only speculating of course, but I'm still trying to chase down everything even if it's a hunch. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. ERB and wife Cecilia (or Cecelia) will give me the confirmation I need! On the 1900 Census, there is an Isaac S. and Cecilia L. ERB living in Harrisburg (possibly at 1963 Moltke Ave., but the census entry makes it hard to read the street name). They were married zero years so they must have married in 1899 or early 1900. Can anyone send me the transcription of their marriage entry from the courthouse? Or, if it's not possible to transcribe without purchasing the record, I will gladly pay for those costs. I'm trying to determine Cecilia's parents and her birthdate/birthplace. I'm hoping her maiden name is HORTON. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My great grandfather was Conrad Sheffler, who moved to Wood County, Ohio. His father was John Conrad Shreffler, a grandson of Johannes Heinrich Schroeffler, who immigrated here from Germany. Apparently, three of the sons stayed in Pennsylvania, and dropped the "c" to make the surname Shreffler for future generations. The three sons who moved to Ohio also dropped the "r", so all of their descendents have the surname Sheffler. My grandmother was Loree Alice Sheffler, from Risingsun, Ohio. Let me know how I can help with this lineage for you. Carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
