My mother, Joyce Manley, graduated from John Harris in 1936. I have many aunts, uncles, cousins who graduated from John Harris, but I'm not sure if the years were close to 1942. Trivia: I can sing the alma mater even though we moved away from PA in 1958!) Nora Avery Florida Marsha Ensminger wrote: > Are there any John Harris High School alumni on the list? My step sister was married to a Crouse. We called him 'Whitey' and he died about 10 years ago. I don't know any history further back than that. Maybe you would know? Thanks -----Original Message----- From: padauphi-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:padauphi-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Shelley Cardiel Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2007 1:40 AM To: PADAUPHI@rootsweb.com Subject: [PADAUPHI] CROUSE Family Photograph I've "rescued" an old photograph of George CROUSE which was taken at the LeRue Lemer Studio in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's with George likely in his 30's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to find census information which appears to be a match for this family: 1870 census of Harrisburg, PA: George CROUSE, age 28, a Railroad Conductor, born PA Elizabeth CROUSE, age 26, Keeping House, born PA Mary CROUSE, age 4, born PA 1880 census of Harrisburg, PA: George CROUSE, a widower, age 37, born VA, a Railroad Employee, parents born VA Dollie CROUSE, dau, age 14, born PA, at Home, parents born VA/PA George CROUSE, son, age 8, born PA, at School, parents born VA/PA I'm hoping to locate someone from this CROUSE Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of his family. If you are a member of this family, or if you know someone who might be, please contact me. I am currently working on solving my biggest brick wall. My great grandmother, Fanny Crum/Crumb was born 23 Oct 1832 and died 20 Apr 1857. She is buried in the Trinity (Hill) Lutheran Church Cemetery, south of Colebrook,Lebanon Co.,PA. There are two women named Fanny Crum in the 1850 Census who live in Upper Swatara Township, Dauphin Co., relatively nearby. One age 17 lives in the household of Abraham Crum and is found in the same household in the 1860 census, so she is not the one. The other is 19 and lives in the home of Joseph B. Baker and is probably a servant. This may be the one, however, there are no clues as to the parents or siblings. Based on family data and a visit to the gravesites, she probably married my great grandfather Jacob B. Foltz between 11 Sep 1850 and 10 May 1851 when their first child Emma was born (she died 22 Feb 1855). They had another child born about 1852 (this is the only thing readable on the gravestone) and my grandfather Franklin Crum(b) Foltz, born 15 Sep 1855. Fanny died 20 Apr 1857 and Jacob died 2 Apr 1859. In 1870 and 1860 Census at ages 14 and 5, Franklin Crum(b) Foltz lived with Jacob (age 65/55) and Barbara Mayer (age 60/55). He had a $4000 Personal Estate in 1870. He died 2 August 1937 in Palmyra, Lebanon Co., PA. I am interested in knowing any information about the parents and siblings of Fanny Crum(b). I have fairly extensive information the Foltz Family. Thank you in advance for any information you might want to share or hints as to finding this information, John ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
