    3. There was an Otterbein United Brethren Church in Sunbury, PA. After the merger of the Evangelical and the United Brethren it became the Otterbein Evangelical United Brethren Church. Following the merger of the EUB and Methodist Church it became Otterbein United Methodist Church. Since Philip Otterbein was the founder of the United Brethren Church there well could be other Methodist Churches named Otterbein.

    3. In an obituary I find that the funeral was presided over by the Rev. Charles E Beittel of the Otterbein United Brthren Church. Burial was at Shoop Cemetery. Where was this church and does it still exist? I find no listing for it. Thanks, Amy

    3. I do not think Steelton ever had its own newspaper. There was the Harrisburg Patriot news I remember that would have had birth announcements from the Harrisburg or Polyclinic Hospitals for the area.

    3. The State Archives in Harrisburg also has marriage records on microfilm from 1890's. I found my grandmother's marriage record on microfilm at the archives right after I had sent money to the Dauphin County courthouse for a certified copy. Hope this helps.

I do not know who Maria's parents were, but I am interested in the Rhoads line. There are quite a few Rhoads buried at the Shellsville church, but I have not yet pieces together all the members of this family. There is some circumstantial evidence that my Maria Rhoads descends from George Rhoads (1777-1856) and wife Catharine (1778-1848), who had children Daniel, George, Jacob, Jane, and John, but there were other Rhoad/Rhode/Roth individuals living in the area at that time. I would be interested in exchanging information with other individuals researching the Rhoad line from the Shellsville/Linglestown area. Dave David N.
