    1. [PADAUPHI] Elizabeth Beloved Wife
    2. Janice A. Frank
    3. I call her that because it is what she was called in some of what I have about her and none of it calls her by her actual surname, which I don't know. I sent this part below to the Lancaster list a few days ago; no breakthroughs having resulted I decided to send it to Dauphin too because: 1) Elizabethtown is so close to Dauphin County, and 2) Someone on here, and I am sorry, I forget who, mentioned the name REDSECKER recently. This name keeps cropping up in connection with Elizabeth - a Jacob RESECKER witnessed her husband Henry Frank's will in 1848, and she was living in the household of a woman named Catharine REDSECKER in Elizabethtown in the census of 1870. It seems possible that they were relatives of hers although I have no evidence of that. I would like to hear from anyone who knows about the REDSECKERs. Gist of the story: My 2ggm, Elizabeth ?? 27 Oct 1806 - 1 Sep 1874 (have her dates from a family Bible which however does not give her maiden name - grrrr!), wife of Henry FRANK 2 Sep 1802 - 30 Jul 1848. The marriage probably took place about 1826 (first child b Aug 1827). Henry's will refers to "my beloved wife Elizabeth". Henry and Elizabeth and a couple of their children are buried at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown. Her tombstone says "Elizabeth, wife of Henry Frank." Can't find the marriage, can't find an obit. A recent thought is maybe an obit of Henry? Henry's is an old Lancaster town family, have 'em back to the immigrant, but Henry himself was living out in Mt Joy township, I don't know why, around that time and I suspect she was from there. But I can't find the marriage (sorry, I said that already). All the children except the first were chr Christ Evangelical Lutheran and all the records say Henry Frank and wife Elizabeth. Period. If I sound testy, I probably am; gee whiz, the woman lived until 1874, it shouldn't be this hard. Grateful for any help or suggestions. These FRANKs and many other Lancaster and Dauphin County families are on my new website at: http://bcwright.home.netcom.com/janhome/ Jan

    2. Does anyone know about Crawford's from Hanover Tsp.? A Richard or a William ca.1700-1800.Richard m. a Miss Gilchrist or Gilgrist in Hanover twsp sometime in the 1700's and Wm. m. Martha Craine in 1807 in Harrisburg. Wm. & Martha had two sons, Richard in 1809 and George Wm. in 1810. The two sons may have been raised by other people because the parents deaths were listed in a Bible as 1812 and 1814. George later became a physician and lived in Dicks Creek,OH, and later in Burlington Ia.,where he died.Just putting this out there again, hopefully.

    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. I am particularly interested in Mrs. Kingsford's School. Is there someone, able to relate some information on this school? Here is what I show. Susan Bucher AYRES was an attendee. Also, who are the "silent dead of Kalmia?" Thanks, Vince Summers SUSAN BUCHER AYRES, b. October 06, 1826, Harrisburg, PA; d. October 07, 1861, Harrisburg, PA; m. ANDREW J. JONES, December 11, 1856, Harrisburg, PA; b. 1803; d. January 13, 1867. Notes for SUSAN BUCHER AYRES: Buried in Harrisburg cemetery. Or, died August 7, 1861? Sang Alto, according to GBA in N & Q. ------------- Mrs. Kingsford's School. - By George Bucher Ayres (b. 1829) A contributor (N. & Q. iii.) to this interesting and valuable department having made reference to the young ladies' seminary of Mrs. Kingsford, at Harrisburg, I am reminded of one of its rolls. In the absence of date I fix it about 1839. It will be interesting to recall some of the names perhaps almost forgotten; to note those who are numbered among the silent dead of Kalmia; and to repeat the maiden-names of the majority who are to-day among the noble mothers (some may be grandmothers) of Harrisburg. [in this list is Susan B. Ayres] ------------- Notes for ANDREW J. JONES: With parents Robert T. Jones and Margaret Williamson, emigrated to America 1806 from County Donegal, IRELAND. Settled in Bainbridge, Lancaster, PA. Appointed Postmaster by President Taylor. Buried in Harrisburg cemetery.

    2. Jocelyn Keene
    3. Here are responses to three separate mails. Joyce and Bob Bob is right. There probably isn't any connection. My Keehn/Keen/Keene family came from Germany in about 1850 as Kuhns. They were illiterate and so the name changed frequently. I don't have any Angeline Keens in the line. Evelyn, I didn't get anything further from you - just a note saying that you were sending more but nothing more came. It must have got lost in space or in yahoo.com somewhere. I'll let you know when/if it arrives. In the meantime, Charles Keehn was born in Reading, PA the son of Edward Keehn and Adeline Snyder. Edward immigrated to the US in about 1850 at the age of about 4 with his parents and 2 siblings. His father Charles worked as an iron miner until the Civil War and died in 1862 of cholera in the war. Adeline was from a Reading family of hatters. Charles had two siblings, my grandfather James Edward Keene and my great-aunt Ida Mae Keene. Charles and Sadie never had any children - at least none that lived. I'm sure I would have heard if there were any that died even in infancy. My grandmother was very good at writing everything down. The genealogy bug in my family started with her. I have much more but it is at home and I am at work. I think Charles worked in a cigar factory but my father has also said he was a painter. Let me know if you want more on the Keehns. Jocelyn > > I just thought I would throw this one to you. I found in the > Collected > Cemetery Records from Dauphin County, PA, by Dr. Glenn P. Nice hearing from you again. And have a great time with your daughter in Arizona. I've spent most of this year digging up old cemeteries here in DAUPHIN COUNTY, since I couldn't find what I was looking for in BERKS COUNTY. Yesterday's SWARTZ CEMETERY addition intrigued me, primarily because CHRISTIAN SWARTZ originally settled in BERKS COUNTY, then moved up here after the Revolutionary War. More information from interested readers will be included on the page/site when I get around to it. Right now there is my Breakfast meeting, Senior Citizen Lunch Meeting, topped off with a CAPATUG Computer Club meeting preceded with dinner at Le Pierre's! You're right on, Joyce, it is indeed as you described. The Martin Nissley Swartz and Solomon L. Swartz farms share the same lane off of present Longview Drive that is shared by the A. WITMER farms. Now if you could just pin-point that Nissley Mansion cemetery a wee bit more, and confirm that the interments recorded by Audrey L. Retherford also show up in the Churchville Cemetery, we could put it back on the map! Noticed you picked up a "h" in your last name. My wife Katie's sister DONNA WEALAND married a HARVEY WITMER from that general area, but I lost track of him. Not really sure where they lived in Lower Swatara Township during their relatively brief marriage. I'm passing your information on to the SWARTZ relative to see if she's interested in following up on your various leads. Thanks a bunch. 3. From a Keen researcher, there probably isn't a connection. Angeline's brothers were Joseph & Daniel Keen, her father was Henry Keen.
