Well, I need help again. I have ancestors that lived, died and are buried in the Lykins and/or Wiconisco area. I would very much appreciate a lookup by somebody who has access to cemetery records in that area. If a lookup is not possible, the identification of cemeteries in that area would be great. I'm searching for the names and location of grave sites for James Israel and family, circa 1862. Thanks, Bob Miller
found a short note on Hannah She was Hannah Evans born in carbondale, and lived in Duncannon, many years.since she died in 1906 there may be death certificates on her which would give you the names of her parents, including her mothers maiden name. Hi, me again. found an obit for Daniel Daniel Isreal of Wiconisco, who, with his wife, went to the home of his daughter, Mrs Catherine Stone, of Youngstown Ohio, to get relief, by change of climate, for his asthma, which he suffered for many years. he died early Friday morning age 64 yrs, 3 months and 16 days. Mr Isreal was enjoying his visit and upon retireing felt no disturbing feelings, and soon fell into a deep and restful sleep. Early morning, his wife awoke. to his heavy breathing and tried to arouse him, to no avail, he never regained conciuosness. Mr. Isreal, resided in Wiconisco, since 1849. born in Nantgaraw, Glamorganshire, Wales, and arrived with his parents 1847. went to work in the mines at age 9. as a boy, he delivered the mail between Wiconisc and Millersburg. worked in the mines 30 yrs. in 1872, he became Justice of the peace. survived by his wife, one son Frank. a daughter mrs Charlotte Stone of Youngstown Ohio, 2 sons preceded. an infant and James, who died in Pittsburg. This should help a great deal if you don,t already have this info!!1 Bill BMiller247@aol.com wrote: > > Well, I need help again. This message may show up more than once. I failed to include a subject line the first time. I know that the City of Coaldale currently is in Schuylkill County, but was there a smaller Coaldale once located in Dauphin County? My Morgan ancestors lived in Coaldale, PA, but my GGrandfather is buried near Lykens. I suppose the two counties are close together, but was wondering if there may have been another Coaldale. Thanks, Harry Link to my web pages (Genealogy on Skidmore, Ball, Crislip, Morgan, and Nuce Surnames) http://www.geocities.com/skiz_2000 or http://www.geocities.com/heartland/hills/2793

Recently I was sent information on the Peter Bell and Sarah Myers Bell family. Inside the envelope was a marriage certificate for a Sarah Jane Bell and George Herman, dated May 24, 1870 in Dauphin County, Pa. I know that Sarah Jane Bell was the daughter of David Bell and Rachel Strominger of Susquehanna Twp. Is anybody working on the George Herman Line that could help me? George born Sept. 8, 1838, died May 23, 1900 Sarah Jane born July 23, 1848 (?) died July 15, 1920. This information was written on the outside of the envelope with the name of George Herman and what looks like it could have been a business telephone# 545-5400.. Betty L. Eshenour Olney, Md. 20832

Roger - I can't say for certain that my Hoffman information is completely accurate, but what you posted does differ significantly from what I have. To start with, I have him as John Hoffman, not John Peter. His father was John Peter, who was married to Maria Sara Snyder. My Johannes' line information is as follows: Descendants of John Hoffman Generation No. 1 1. John11 Hoffman (John Peter10, Johannes9, Hendrix8, Ludwig7, Wilhelm6, Andreas5, Frederick4, Ferdinand3, Johan2, Frederick1) was born March 11, 1747 in Berks Co., PA, and died November 1, 1818 in Lykens Twp., Dauphin Co., PA. He married Anna Maria Kauffman. Notes for John Hoffman: Note from Laura Darr: Information on the Hoffmans from this date back is from the internet site of the Yeagers (freeweb.pdq.net/myeager/genealogy/fam00018.htm). I don't know the accuracy of the information from Germany. Eldest son of John Peter Hoffman. A native of Berks Co., PA. Served in the Revolutionary War and commanded the Upper Paxton company in its expedition up the west branch in 1778 and participated in the Battle at Muncy Hill. He lived near Hoffman's Church. He was a farmer. He served as a justice of the peace from 1771 to 1831, the year of his death....from Egle's. ------------------------ Baptism: March 15, 1746/47, St. John's (Host) Church, near Womelsdorf, Tulpehocken Twp., Lancaster (now Berks) Co., PA Baptism Sponsor: Johannes Pontius and wife Military service 1: Abt. 1777, First Lieutenant, Militia of Lancaster Co., PA, Captain Albright Deibler's Company of Associators of the 4th Battalion commanded by Col. Albrecht's daughter Susannah was married to John, SR's brother, Christian. That is, John Peter and Maria Sara Snyder's son Christian. Confusing....let me know if you find other info!!
