For example, in the olde SANT PETER'S LUTHERAN KIERCH we find: Esbenshade, Nancy Feb. 19 1805 Aug. 07 1860 222 & 222F Eschenauer, Christian May 24 1768 Sep 22 1840 44 & 44F Eschenauer, Christina Oct. 25 1770 Jun 15 1829 43 & 43F Eschenauer, Elizabeth 1804 1828 133a & 133aF Eschenower, Leonard Dec 07 1805 Mar 08 1841 125 Eshenower, Christian Mar 19 1796 Jan 14 1832 126 & 126F Eshenower, Elizabeth Oct. 12 1840 Mar 23 1841 19 Ettele, Anna B. May 23 1803 Feb. 27 1836 180 & 180F It is PRESUMED that these are from the same family in the greater Middletown, Dauphin County, PA area. But not necessarily so. And this is just taken from my page on the olde Kierch at: <http://home.att.net/~charliefies/Kierch.html> As a matter of comparison, there are none in the Geyer's Hillsdale Cemetery, but there are certainly some located in the Middletown cemetery (records of which are not on line, to the best of my knowledge.) -- Regards, with regrets to Netscape6 users (what a mess!) Grace Gluntz DeHart's book, "God's Acres", compiles lots of records onto a few pages, including the Old Presbyterian Church burial ground on the corner of Union and High Streets, diagonally opposite the olde Sant Peter's Lutheran Church and Graveyard. This is NOT the old Presbyterian Graveyard on the northwest corner of Pine and High Streets. Grace and friends found records of H. Louisa Lauman being buried in old Sant Peter's Lutheran Churchyard, but she is listed as not being found. However, H. Louisa Crabb, wife of G. All I know of it is there is a Henry Books on the 1850 census in Londonderry Twshp, Dauphin Co, p. 212 listed with children including son John of appropriate age. Henry is listed in the census as a shoemaker with property valued at $2000. That is the only mention I have of such an occupation. It is also the only Henry Books in the area with a son John of appropriate age. I do not know that this is the correct Henry Books. The female (wife) listed is Susan not Elizabeth Conrad as John Conrad Books' death certificate says, but Susan could be a second wife. Would appreciate any feedback. ----- Original Message ----- From: Charles E. There is a Samuel Mater, 31 years old in 1880, a sailor living in a boarding house in Sandusky, Ohio. That is a port on Lake Erie for you poor non-Buckeyes. Samuel told the census enumerator that he was born in Switzerland. A question for my Swiss friends. Is Mater listed in the "Familiennamenbuch der Schweiz",which lists all Swiss surnames as of 1962 and where they held citizenship? And did Mater hold citizenship before 1800 - if so where? I thank my Swiss friends in advance. My Laube name originates in Baldingen, Aargau and my wife's Bowser line originates south-east of Basel, probably from near Buus. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I posted this on other lists because I am searching for the parents of George Mater b abt 1800 - died 1848 in East Pennsboro, Cumberland County, PA. Marsha et al: DAUPHIN COUNTY cemetery research is continuing, and I believe I have found your HANNAH LOUISA CRABB!!! Grace Gluntz DeHart's book on the olde Sant Peter's Lutheran Kierch has all the interments in that old cemetery, and on plot designated 122: H. LOUISA CROBB, died December 7, 1846 -- close enough?? Sant Peter's Lutheran Kierch is on the corner of UNION and HIGH Streets, just one block up High Street from the Presbyterian graveyard formerly located on PINE and HIGH STREETS, From the location of the headstone (not in line with the rest), it may have been removed there at a date later than 1846. I still have to contact Funeral Director Woodrow Reber who, I understand, oversaw the reinterments from the Presbyterian graveyard. Keep tuned.
