Their grandson, Thomas GEORGE, son of Robert GEORGE Sr. & Christiana PLANCE/PLANZ, married June HUNTER. A brother of Thomas GEORGE, Robert GEORGE, married Sarah RAMSEY, Robert & Sarah had twelve children, one of whom was John Donaldson GEORGE, who married Agnes LITTELL. John Donaldson GEORGE & Agness LITTELL had seven children one of which was Laura Jeannette GEORGE, who married James Leiper TAGGART, who is my great grandfather. I have been "talking" to Nelson STONE, who gave me some information on the GEORGE lineage that I did not have and he said that you had been very helpful in supplying information to him in February of this year. I am wondering if you would be willing to tell me more about the GEORGE lineage also? I am more than willing to share any and all information I have about the GEORGE, RAMSEY, LITTELL, DONALDSON, TAGGART surnames and any others that I might have that would be of any assistance to you. My main line of research started with the TAGGART's which is my mothers family surname. Sincerely, Don French, So. Calif. --------------7C86798894F5E3D113664FEA--
Hi, I'm new to the list; thanks for having me. I'm looking for any CUPPLES or LEGO surnames from the Dauphin County area, mainly from Harrisburg in the mid to late 1800's. I hope to hear form someone soon. Nice to be here! David Stoner _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Hi All, Since STONEROAD was mentioned along with MATTER, it brought to my mind to ask if there is a Dick Matter or HATTER connected with the STONEROADs' you are mentioning... My STONEROADs' Emmanuel f/o MaryAlice 1852-1927 md Thomas GEORGE 1847-1921 , they lived in Dauphin and Berks counties . had 10 known children... I do know that Emmanuel STONEROAD served all yrs of the CW , is mentioned on the CW memorial in Winsico and is buried in the old Lykens Cem by his wife, the graves are unmarked due to the markers crumbling but there is a marker for a STONEROAD child right next to them... Other then this I only know that Emmanuel was 90 yrs old when he died... anything anyone... Penny searching : GEORGE / STONEROAD / DRYBREAD / GRUMBLING / WEINHOLD /HARNISH / RUTH / plus many many more !

George Price et al::}~ Thanks for the comments. You may want to contact the reference I give on my Shelleys Island Shelleys page, since much of the ancestors' data came from her (the photos are mine!). Remember that the main commerce between the islands was with the west shore of the Susquehanna River (York County), so church records, births, deaths may have been recorded in York County instead of in Dauphin County, where the islands are politically located. This created a problem for me initially. I STILL haven't dug up my wife's mother who lived in Dauphin County, but her birth was recorded in York County! > Regards, with regrets to Netscape6 users (what a mess!) Come to think about it, you might be in a great position to get others interested in the re-restoration of the old family cemetery. A little weed killer, some briar removals, trap the groundhogs, reset the stones, etc. I understand other descendants did it about 15-20 years ago, but look at it now! Also in a good position to get some weed-killer on the Sunset abandoned cemetery, and even encourage some organizations (Boy Scours or whomever) to check it over. At what? Please view the following comments as constructive feed-back. I'd like to see more. Since I've recorded many photos in St. Peter's cemetery, I was curious if you had the same ones, and are they better than mine (I'm a terrible photographer!). I scrolled through all of your St. Peters, but couldn't read a single one. Many of them came uup on my screen marked "Void" for some unknown (to me) reason, with no picture. Judy, have you any idea how many St Peter's there are, just in Dauphin County alone? I'm a dues-paying member of St. Peters in Middletown, and we got married in St. Peters in Highspire, And these are just two in nearly-adjoining communities. Thern there's Elizabethtown, Mount Joy, etc. I didn't sign in, since I have no idea what I'd be giving my password to or for. Didn't bother looking at the other pictures, since the numbers 1, 2, 3, etc don't convey much information to me. While your site may be good to excellent, I didn't have enough information to go on. If you care to, take a look at my St. Peter's cemetery pictures. They are identified by names instead of numbers (in most case),, and people looking at Crabb1, Kendig2, etc., know the family names. And I believe everyone looking at my St. Peter's page can tell it's in Dauphin Co., PA, Middletown in particular. Same applies to the olde German Lutheran Burial Ground, just downs the straeet from St. Paters.

Roger, Is Hans Matter's line related to John Michael Matter's (1763-1852)line? In John Michael Matter's line there is a Johann Solomon Matter 1806-1877 m. Isabel (Elizabeth) Rowe 1810-abt 1852. Do you have any of that line forward. Did they have a dau. Elizabeth b. 1845 and married George Washington Keiter??? Also do you have any info on the Stoneroad clan of Dauphin? Why did so many from Dauphin and North'd. Co,PA move to Ogle Co., IL? I am amazed to say the least. I had no idea of this "coincidence" until I started working on the Garman line. Searching for descendants of George Snyder b. Aug, 3, 1790; d. Mar 25, 1851 -- Tombstone listing -- Cemetery of The Lutherische and Reformed Church, south side of West Main St., Palmyra, PA. Possible additional information -- 1830 Census of Derry Twp. (pg. 114) lists a George Snyder, age 40-50 but no son, one female under 5, three females 5-10, one female 10-15, and one female 20-30 that may be the spouse. Jacob Miller and John Kersnlick are neighbors (listed near each other on the same census page). (Note land deed below) 1840 Census of Derry Twp. (pg. 259) lists a George Snyder 50-60 years old having a son 10-15 years old. Only male child listed in 1840. This son could be my great grandfather George Snyder who would be age 16-17 depending when the census was taken in 1840. Female children listed: one age 10-15, two age 15-20, and one age 20-30. None the right age to be a spouse. Spouse appears to have died before 1840. Tombstone listing -- Cemetery of The Lutherische and Reformed Church, south side of West Main St., Palmyra, PA. Not into file 13, but cut and pasted it into my page on the Old Lutheran/German Burial Ground: <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/OldGermn.html> Check it out - it answers some of your 'wonders' about the remaining stones. Some of the details were listed in Grace Dehart's book, "God's Acres", in the part on the Old German Lutheran Burial Ground, which is one block down High Street at Pine, whereas Sant Peter's Lutheran Kierch burial ground is on the corner of High and Union Streets. I trust this inclusion of your works is OK by you, but if you'd rather, I can remove it. And thanks again for keeping my pages in mind. I've received some favorable comments about their contents. My great grandfather, Charles Hartman Penrose, was born on July 3,1820 in Philadelphia. His father was one Joseph Penrose, a descendant (grandson?) of a Col.Joseph Penrose who served in the revolution. I believe the Colonel died about 1784 or '91 and Charles's father, Joseph, was born in Philadelphia (est.) around 1800. (So there must have been another, unknown, Penrose in between. Soon after Charles was born his Aunt Eliza Penrose took Charles and raised him as her own. Not sure whether it was death of Joseph's first wife, divorce or whether Charles was born to Eliza out of wedlock. In any event, in 1821, Eliza Penrose married one Mathias Freck who had come from Baden Baden, Germany in 1815. By 1822 they had relocated to Lykens Valley in Dauphin County where my grandfather and father were born. Eliza Penrose, On her mother's side, was descended from the Pratt family in Philadelphia. (one of Charles Hartman Penrose's children was named Euphen Pratt Penrose). Family history says that Joseph Penrose then remarried and had four sons by an (unknown) second wife: Joseph, a Philadelphia policeman for some 25 years. He had two boys and two girls (Meb Croft & Kate Flaherty). The name Maribah is also in the record given to me by my aunt Mary. The second son, James, was a mail carrier in Phil. for some 25 years and he is reported to have had two boys. The third son, Anthony, was employed by the City Gas company in Philadelphia. The last son, John, is reported to have built the stationary steam engine for the machinery used at the Centennial in 1876. He is reported to have died at the Danville Asylum in PA but a telephone call & letter to Danville found no record. Can anyone help me here? It's been a "Brick wall" to me for some time now and I could sure use some help! Oh-Oh-Oh I forgot. The middle name "Hartman" appears in my family for the first time with Charles Hartman Penrose (my gggrandfather). Anyone have any theories about that? I know there were Hartman's in the area at that time.
