    3. Now that I've gathered information on Samuel Brand (thank you to all those who replied), I am still at a loss to confirm my Michael Brand. According to information from another source, the Michael Brand listed in Samuel Brand's will is also the father of my Samuel Brand that went to Butler County, OH. According to what I have, Samuel had three children: -Samuel -Barbara -Michael I have a note from the other researcher that says "From research I have performed in the Pennsylvania State Archives, I also feel strongly that Samuel's father was Michael Brand, based on Michael's Will." I agree that there appears substantial circumstantial evidence, but I would be interested in trying to firm up the connection. Does anyone have any research that may help? 3. Posted to Lancaster and Dauphin County Lists: Looking for information on the family of Samuel Brand. According to his gravestone, he was born in Dauphin County, PA 12 Dec 1802 and died in Tippecanoe County, IN, 21 Sep 1872. I believe his father to be Samuel Brand, born 12 Mar 1770 in Dauphin Co., PA, d 12 Nov 1832, Butler Co., OH. I am trying to verify his ancestry. It seems likely that he was descended from Sameuel Brand/Brandt, d 1784. I have seen conflicting information on the last name. There are several Brandt biographies listed on the Lancaster Web Site, including: BRANDT, DAVID BRANDT, DAVID H. BRANDT FAMILY BRANDT, FREDERICK H. BRANDT, HARRIET BRANDT, JOHN BRANDT, MRS. MARGARET BRANDT, MRS. MARIA E. BRANDT, MRS. MARY P. BRANDT, SAMUEL L. Is there anyone that does lookups/copies that could provide copies of these biographies to me? I would be happy to transcribe them for the Lancaster site. My hope is that they are interconnected enough to provide insight to my ancestry. If anyone can be of assistance, please email me directly at [email protected] Thank you! --- Randy Ritchie Shawnee, KS Researching the Brand, Edwards, Gray, Ray, Ritchie, Royer and Troncoso families See our family genealogy at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ritchiegenealogy/ ____________________________________________________________ Get advanced SPAM filtering on Webmail or POP Mail ... 3. The Historical Society of Dauphin County has a number of the early directories in their library, although not a complete set (if a complete set even exists--I believe there were a number of years in which none at all were published). They may have a few of the missing volumes. http://www.dauphincountyhistoricalsociety.org/library.htm The hours are 1 to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday. 3. Daniel - John and Hester (Esther) are in the 1860 Halifax census John(age 66), Hester(57), sons John the shoemaker(27), Peter(25), Amos(17), Henry(16, eventually marries Ellen), David(13) and daughter Margaret(9). By the 1870 Halifax census John says that he is 77, Hester (now listing herself as Ann E.) is 66, daughter Ann is 25 and son David is 23. a couple of doors away is their shoemaker son John Jr.(39) now married to an Elizabeth and with 2 young children Sarah(6) and Henry(2). By the 1880 census, John Chubb Sr has died and his widow Esther (transcribed as Eister) is now 77 and she and her son Peter are living with her son Henry (age 36) and his wife Ellen and their 2 small children Ida C.(age 6) and John H.(age 3). John and Ester's son Henry appears to have been born about 1844 and lists himself as a blacksmith. I would therefore gather that your Henry might be a younger brother of John Chubb Sr. as he is definitely not a son. Sue

    3. Sue one more thing. The F. Hain was the Son of Emma She was born in January 27 of 1859. She died of complications of Childbirth giving birth to Charles M Haines on July 18, 1878 who then died in July 28, 1878. Charles was born on July 17 1878. I guess that is what happened allot of times when they didn't have formula. Emma's husband I have no info on. But he must have had a hard time losing both his wife and son with two weeks. 3. Marcia Is that a book or a CD? There are two errors on that dates on the Stones. I have photos and etchings of the stones and the dates are John born 1798 and Mary born 1802. The numbers of 3-8 are confused all in Dauphin co as the man that made many stones in the 60's thru the 90's made his 3's and 8's look very simular and same with the 7's and 2's. I am not boasting but I have been to most of the Cemeteries in the area and it is very hard to distuguish unless you take a flash exposed photo during late evening of the stone or a scratching or charcoal etching on paper copy of the stone. 2. Daniel Geyer and Family.
    3. Hello, You know really I have not gotten that far back. I have a Daniel Chubb father of John Chubb but may also be the father of my Henry Chubb. After quoting Sue on her email to me it states that: " 1850 Halifax census: Henry Chubb, age 34, shoemaker, born Pa Mary, age 29, wife, born Pa Harriet E., age 9 Adeline C., age 6 Charles C., age 3 Isaac F. , age 8 months John Chubb, age 19, (born August 1832), shoemaker, is living with them (he turns out to be a brother of David W. Chubb (born 1847). John and David's parents were John (born abt 1800) and Hester Ann(born abt 1803) Chubb." Now John Sr. was married to Esther A Eisenhauer. They are both buried in Long's View Cemetery in Halifax Twp Dauphin co PA. Anyway, If John Jr. was staying with Henry Chubb in the 1850 census I can only conclude that Henry is either John Sr. Son or Younger brother. John Sr. was born in 1798 according to his tombstone. Now I would like to find out who is Henry Chubb parents. Oh just to let you know. I have Henry and his wife Mary A Chubb buried in Ebenezer. Henry C Chubb is on his tombstone. Born 10/31/1815 died 11/2/1872. Mary A Chubb born 9/27/1820 died 2/3/1903. I had this info all along but could not confirm any of this info until now. Only now I don't know Mary A maiden name. More Questions and less answers. HaHa Thanks everyone again Dan Geyer. 3. could I ask you one more favor if you can. Do you have the 1790 to 1840 census? I believe that the John Chubb you mention in the 1850 census is married to Esther A Eisenhaur. She was born in 11/11/1802. Now John Chubb her husband was either born 10/6/1793 or 1798. I would tend to believe that he was born in 1798. To a Daniel Chubb. So the list would look like this: Daniel Chubb 2 John Chubb(1793-1871) m. Esther A Eisenhauer(1802-1889) 3. Henry Chubb(1816-187?) Mary A(1821-190?) 4. 3. Daniel - I've gone through all the censuses and believe that I've found quite a bit of information for you and hope that it helps. 1850 Halifax census: Henry Chubb, age 34, shoemaker, born Pa Mary, age 29, wife, born Pa Harriet E., age 9 Adeline C., age 6 Charles C., age 3 Isaac F. , age 8 months John Chubb, age 19, (born August 1832), shoemaker, is living with them (he turns out to be a brother of David W. Chubb (born 1847). John and David's parents were John (born abt 1800) and Hester Ann(born abt 1803) Chubb. 1860 Halifax census Henry, 44 Mary, 39 Harriet, 19 Adeline, 16 Charles, 13 Isaac, 10 William H., 7 Sarah, 4 Emma, 1 1870 Halifax Henry, 52 Mary, 48 Charles, 22 Isaac, 21 James, 6 1880 Halifax Charles Chubb, 33, single Mary Chubb, 60, widow, mother James, 15, brother F. Hain, age 4, nephew (I suspect that this is a son of Charles' sister (either Harriet or Adeline, and that the child's mother has died) 1900 Halifax census Isaac Chubb, born September, 1849 - shoemaker Amelia, (born 1854), wife of Isaac Mary, born September, 1820, mother, widow, born in Pa of parents born in Pa. She says that she has had 8 children but only 3 are still living by 1900 (Isaac, James, and William only). In the 1910 Halifax census are James and his wife Jennie, showing that they have been married 15 years (married 1895?) and that they have have 4 children - all living. Jennie says that it is her first marriage and James says that it is his 2nd marriage. So, it seems that James was 1 of 8 children and that only the 3 sons lived until at least 1900. His parents were both born in Pa (father Henry about 1816 and mother Mary in 1820. Mother Mary's parents were also both born in Pa. I would gather they are all buried in Halifax Borough or close to it. Hope this helps, Sue

    3. Hello I have been having problems with this line for quite some time now and was wandering if anyone had come across any info on this man's parents. James Milton Chubb born 11/22/1864 in Halifax Dauphin Co Pa lived as a Jeweler on Pine St Millersburg Pa where his store was also. He was married to Jennifer L Troutman born 8/31/1877 most likely in Millersburg and Died on 11/5/1926 in Millersburg. They had the following children. Beatrice Arlene Chubb Geyer (8/31/1903-3/8/1976), Charles Clayton Chubb(1/3/1897-?), Herbert Austin Chubb(5/14/1900-?) and James Edgar Chubb(5/17/1905-1/15/1964) James Milton Chubb is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg Dauphin Co Pa. I have some info that leads to James' parents as being Henry Chubb born 1835 in Halifax and Mary A Troutman born 12/13/1847 died 3/19/1921 and is buried in Union Cemetery in Northumberland Co PA. But no substantial evidence. On a side note I did grow up in Millersburg PA and my nick name was "spit" so if anyone asks I am the grandson of Donald H "Spit" Geyer. Thanks Dan Geyer
