3. You might try doing a search at FamilySearch.org. You can do a search for your ancestor and find him in the 1880 census which the LDS church has indexed free of charge. It should take less time than a page by page search. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2004 3:43 PM Subject: [PADAUPHI] Speeceville, PA > List, > I have a township map but can't figure out the map for > what township Speeceville, Dauphin Co., PA is. > Since my elusive ancestor was born there I'm going to do a page > by page of Dauphin Co 1880 census and thought it might help to start > with that area first since they were in Dauphin Co., > Nadine > > > ==== PADAUPHI Mailing List ==== > Post only genealogy related topics > >

2. George F. Nagle
3. For inquiries concerning the Baldwin Cemetery, direct them to its current owners, the William Howard Day Cemetery Company. Here is info on the Day Cemetery from the Afrolumens Project Website: "William Howard Day Cemetery, Dauphin County, 801 Lincoln Street, Steelton, Pennsylvania. William Howard Day Cemetery was established in the 1900's as a burial place for people of color excluded from the nearby Baldwin Cemetery, and is the cemetery most frequently used for burial by local African American families today. Named for educator Dr. William Howard Day, Harrisburg's first African American School Board President, the cemetery maintains an extensive database of all burials. Although created as an African American cemetery, William Howard Day has always accepted burials of all races, and ironically now owns neighboring Baldwin Cemetery, and is working to clean up and improve that historic, but neglected site. "Inquiries regarding the W. H. Day Cemetery should be directed to: William Howard Day Cemetery Company 801 Lincoln Street Steelton, Pennsylvania 17113 Telephone: (717) 939-9809 Fax: (717) 939-0354" George F. Amey remarried aft 1930 to George Flickinger Leo who married Myrl Frank and had Amy, Florence, Margaret, Elwood and Cleo Claude S. Leo and Myrl were my great grand parents. I am willing to share the information I have already gathered on these lines. Thanks Constance Monterey, CA

2. On Mon, 9 Feb 2004 10:51:34 -0800 (PST), you wrote: List, This is my position on e-bay. Posting by the seller: violation of AUP. Posting by someone unidentifiable (could be seller, could be not) who subs, posts, and runs: really rude, and inappropriate. Definitely something the admin is supported in trying to stop. Posting by a regular participant in the list of items on topic, not sold by them---that's up to the admin. In the latter case, if Sally is a regular participant on the list, and she occasionally finds items of real genealogical interest (books or what have you) pertaining to Wombat County that she isn't interested in buying (too pricey, already have, wrong end of county), that's not entirely off-topic for the Wombat County list, *if* the admin approves. IMO, however, it's not really the job of list subscribers to help eBay sellers sell their items, regardless of reason. It's just too easy for anyone who's really interested to go to eBay, set up personal notifications for "Wombat County", and find the items themselves if they want to. The function of RW lists (other than the handful of marketplace type lists) really isn't selling *anything*. 3. Hi Roger Did you find a connection with the Schmeltzers and the Lebo? There is today a large car dealership by the name of Schmeltzer down in Dauphin County. There is a Lebo working there, I stopped one day to see if he knew if we were related, but he didn't know. I am very sure there is a connection, but haven't found it yet. 3. Rita, I saw your post and looked on my CD of newspaper abstracts for Lebanon County. There were two that looked interesting but don't know if they pertain to the Caroline you're looking for. Deaths, Der Libanon Demokrat: On the 4th of this month (Oct 1856) at the Dudley Furnace, George Washington, son of Francis and Lovina Mowrey, age 3 mo. 28 days. Deaths, Lebanon Valley Standard: On the 19th inst. (Feb 1872) at Millersburg, Berks Co., Kate, daughter of John & Caroline Moyer, aged 2 years, 11 mo., 8 days. Died of scarlet fever. By the way, there were a few Maurys on this list (no Carolines however). I have a couple of brick walls in my genealogy as well so I know how it is - you look for anything that is faintly similar. Good luck! I am singing in the snow all the way from Dayton, OH. You are WONDERFUL. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH. I am calling him tonight to let him know that he can now know where his grandparents are buried. Jonas was married before to Caroline Lovina Moyer. She died shortly after they married and I believe had two sons, William and John Henry Hoke. They may have died as infants. But by 1870, Jonas Hoke had left Elizabethville and moved to Valley View where he married Caroline Gable and started a new family. It states in his Military papers that the first wife was buried in the cemetery in Elizabethville without a marker. I believe that the two sons may be there too. I hope to find which cemetery they are in and get a marker for them. Thank you again. Unknowns Once I had a name, a face, a beating heart, and now all I have is a grave unmarked Helen L. Smith Hoke (I chase dead people....and they are so far ahead of me, I'll never catch up. I think they're hiding under rocks.Dear Bill,

3. I've also found family treasures on EBay, and one of them was just because someone posted a link to a list. I've always been VERY grateful that the person had the time and courtesy to make a post to a mailing list.
