Hi Maxine, Have you gone through the 1850 census of Dauphin County? I see there are quite a few BOOKS listed in Dauphin County in that year (20), but no Caleb Books. He may have been living at home with his parents in this year as he would have been about 17. Yes, I have checked the all the census records. The name "Cyrus Books" is not as unique as I originally thought. There were 2 men with the same name in the Civil War - one from Ohio who died during the war and one from PA who survived and returned to live in PA. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Parker & Trisha Todd" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 12:56 PM Subject: Re: [PADAUPHI] surnames BOOKS/Mansbarger/Saner > Hi Maxine, > > Have you gone through the 1850 census of Dauphin County? Here is some info about my gg grandmother, Sarah B. MELL. Her death certificate states that she was b. in Lancaster PA, Oct 5, 1833, the daughter of Samuel Wolf and Elizabeth Spicer. Sarah died 29 Apr, 1922 after being ill for about 1 month. Her daughter Ella Hamer with whom she lived at 149 Paxton St. in Harrisburg, stated that she became ill 1 Apr 1922. She was buried in "Casket #1638 solid quartered oak with finest black broad cloth covering, antique silver handles and a sik interior" by Arthur C. Hauck, Funeral Director, at Harrisburg Cemetery. The cost of the funeral was $340.50 Does anyone on the list know what present day funeral home, if any, would be the successor to Arthur C. Hauck? Bill

Anyone with information on the Neighbor Family? I have a Susanna and Loviss/Loves Neighbor, sisters who married possibly two brothers, David and John Franck. This information came from deeds dated 1808 and 1816. David and Loviss Franck are listed as husband and wife, as are John and Susanna Frank. I have a fair amount of history on John and Susanna, would like more on David and Loviss and where the Neighbor family came from. Marcia Fronk

I find lots of people in the the actual census pages that don't come up in the search. My grandfather was born in 1882 with older brothers born in 1877 and 1879. I decided to to do the page by page starting with Dauphin Co and I will expand to the whole state of PA if I have to. I want to find them bad. George & Mac: Many thanks for the update on the Baldwin Cemetery. I'm printing it out and inserting it into the book "Cemeteries of Dauphin County" by Karl J. Fox. I browsed your web site and am impressed at all the information you have there. Especially the write-up on the MCKAMEY family. Howard "Mac" Mckamey and I met while participating in target shooting, and have been keeping in touch ever since. As recent as this morning. Thank you again for the input on the Baldwin Cemetery.
