In trying to get you a positive answer I dug up a bit more information on the Minister, A. H. Lochman. Augustus Lochman took ill sometime in the 1820's, and died in 1826. His son A. H. Lochman apparently took over and performed the ministerial duties of his father. I say apparently because the writings aren't too detailed. The original German records are kept in the Gettysburg Seminary's Archives, with copies transcribed from German to English held here in St. Peters. I have tried to get answers to questions like is someone available to do this research, would there be a donation welcomed, who would do it, and the like. St. Peters has a web site, but I lost the link and people I asked haven't responded as of noon Saturday. They are looking for a webmaster. The office was closed Friday afternoon when I called, and the site isn't listed in the latest monthly bulletin. I quit searching the web after the 30th page of St. Peters Lutheran Churches, but will follow up, conditions permitting. -- Regards, CHARLES EARL FIES -- Fies Family Fotos <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/> FIES/FEES Family History Research Site <http://www.fies-fees.org> BABB - HARTMAN <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/Babbs.html> DAUPHIN CO. Nisley's and Swartz's intermarried, with a Swartz Mansion "overlooking the Swatara Creek". "When Martin Nisley died in 1825, he was buried in the family burial plot on a high hill overlooking Elbow Farm. His, and later his wife Elizabeth's gravestone was inscribed in German, indicating that it was their primary language." Excerpts from Margaret Clark Reynolds' publication "....The Nisley Family and its Architecture in the Lower Swatara Creek Basin." She describes the mansions in detail. These writings all indicate the Nissley mansions were in Lower Swatara Township, but the Hummelstown Sun's obituary for Martin 'Big Mart' Nisley in 1892 noted that he was "a prominent citizen of Swatara Township...." Samuel Nisley's will specifically mentioned the "graveyard on said plantation (on the 1846 Elbow farm) which shall be kept in good fence at all times hereafter by my son, Martin." Big Mart Nisley was also buried in this little graveyard behind his 1846 childhood home, overlooking the beautiful Swatara Creek and the surrounding land of his forebears. E.W.S. Parthemore transcribed the tombstone inscriptions, printing then in 1895 in the Dauphin County Historical Society's minutes as a lecture given on the subject. Those transcriptions can be viewed on my Nissley web page: <http://home.att.net/~charliefies/Nissley.html> Oh, is this the burial ground you are making reference to? Does anyone have any information about Peter Myers who was born approx. 1833 and was from Dauphin. We know for sure he had a sister named Margaret Myers who married John W. Wolf. Margaret was born 10/26/1826. Maybe siblings named George, John, and sister Dacilla. Margaret married John in 8/4/1842...Marriage Notes "The Marriage of Mr. John Wolf to Miss Margaretta Myers, all of East Pennsborough Township by Rev. N. J. Stroh" was published in the American Volunteer, a Carlisle weekly newspaper of Thursday, August 18, 1842. Peter died in the Civil War near Atlanta. He left a widow Saloma (Sarah Ann) Dillman Myers and 5 children, Susan Catherine, John Elliver, Mary Ann, Elijah Lincoln, and Jacob Arthur. After his death his sister Margaret wrote to Peter's widow that she had informed mother, sister and brother still in Pennsylvania that Peter had died and to mourn him. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Write me direct. Thanks, Sheri Krichbaum [email protected]
I am having a lot of difficulty finding anything on the families in the Dauphin & Lebanon and surrounding counties even though the majority of information leads directly to Dauphin and Lebanon Counties!??? We know: * Jacob Witz, b. 1809, d. 1880, Saginaw, MI, married * Sarah Fornwalt, 4 Apr 1812, Lebanon, PA, d. 01 Jan 1882, Saginaw, MI in 31 Jul 1831, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown, Lebanon Cnty, PA, (Jacob's last name was misspelled Metz) and that they had several children born in PA, with two dieing there: * Elisabeth b.13 Apr 1831 PA d.4 Apr 1834 PA; * Caroline b.17 May 1832 PA d. 1890's in MI.; * Magdaline b. 12 Dec 1834 PA d. 27 Nov 1836 PA; * John b. 6 Dec 1836 PA d. 2 Apr 1910 Saginaw, MI. The problem is we can't find where Jacob was born or where his children were born or buried!?? It is believed the family moved to Tiffin, OH, between 1840 & 1850, then moved to Bay City/Saginaw, MI in 1851 or 1852. My GG Grandfather and Great Grandfather were born in Saginaw, MI. Jacob's parents, * John Witz, b. around 1782, PA, d.1851, Ohio, married, unknown place and date, but believed to be somewhere in southeastern Pennsylvania, to * Magdaline (referred to as Mollie, no maiden name) b. 1785, PA d. 1875, Tiffin, Ohio. John & Magdaline Witz moved to Ohio around 1838 from the Dauphin area. No records of them have been found to date in Dauphin or surrounding counties. Jacob's sister * Catherine (Witz) Brestle, b: 15 Oct 1816, PA; d: 9 May 1900, OH married John Brestle somewhere in Dauphin, and they had their first two children there: * Christian B. Brestle, b.16 Sep 1835 Middletown, Dauphin County, PA; and * George W. Brestle (referred to as GW) b. 11 Jan 1837, Dauphin County. PA It's believed they moved to Ohio with John & Magdaline around 1838. Here again, nothing else has been found on them other than they are all buried in the Brestle Family Plot in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio. Any leads or additional confirmation of the above would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Patrick Witz

Could someone help me with a church, birth or other lookup for the above person or surname. My dilemma is that supposedly he was born in PA but I have no idea where. Other Brigance members were supposedly born around 1740 in PA as well. At that time, there were only 4 counties: Lancaster, Chester, Philadelphia and Bucks. I have searched in Philadelphia and Lancaster but I wonder when the counties split if the information went with another county outside of the Philadelphia area. Thanks!!!!!
