My family is descended from Robert Kelly of Perry County who first warranted land there in 1762. His son and my ancestor, Archibald, relocated to Indiana County 1801-1806 where the family remains. His brother, Samuel, is the subject of my search. Samuel Kelly married Elizabeth Kilgore in 1792 at First Presbyterian in Carlisle, but remained in Perry, just over the mountain from Carlisle. He and his large family disappear shortly after his unmarried brother Henry's death in 1808, about 1812. One of my research approaches is to try and determine if children of Samuel may have remained in the area. The US census for 1910 reveals that the parents of Albert W. Kelly and Edwin L. Kelly were Albert W. (born 1843), Sr. and Annie C. (b. abt 1863). Their children were: Albert W. Jr., Frank, Ellen F., Mary, George, Jeanne E., Richard W., Edwin L., and Harrison G. The US census for Carlisle in 1880 shows that Albert, a printer, was married previously, his first wife having died prior to that census. Their children were: Sarah, Louisa, Alice, Stella and Harrison (not the same Harrison as above). A search of the 1850 census in Cumberland County did not reveal an Albert Kelly, aged 7. It does list a Henry Kelly in Carlisle, born about 1812, with wife Louisa, and children Ellenor, Elizabeth, James, Henry, Louisa, and Harrison. The descendency of common first names leads me to believe that this family is connected to Albert. Albert, if he were a member of this family, would fall between Elizabeth and James in age. Does anyone have anything further to share? I will be exploring 1860 and 1870 census data for more info, and will post if anyone is interested. Thanks, Kathy
