I read your notes about finding Jacob Bowman. I am also looking for a Jacob Bowman from Bedford County, PA. He may be one of the Jacob Bowman's listed in the 1790 Bedford census. I know that he married Barbara Martin Hay (1785-1867), wdiow of Valentin (Simon ?) Hay in 1824. I found a copy of a sale of land in 1825 to Conrad Martin, Barbara's brother. They had one son, Samuel Bowman, who was married in Montgomery, Ohio. This is also where Barbara died. Jacob is a mystery. I can find nothing about his parents, date of birth, death, etc. I spent one day at the Pioneer Historical Society in Bedford, PA.. They may be able to help you in your search. I would appreciate any advice or help you can provide (I am new at this and am just "getting my feet wet").
