Esther Gibson and ended up in Washington Co. PA? I have James' birthdate as 1738, which is close enough that it may be a match. Her Granmother is listed as Elizabeth ROSS d 9/21/1773. No husband is mentioned. abstracted a short bio of Eliz Ross in the Merri Lou Schaumann's book on Carlisle. dated 21 Sep 1773 proved 19 Dec 1774. grandsons: James, Ross, and William Mitchell granddaughters: Elizabeth Holt, wife of Thomas Holt [and their youngest daughter Elizabeth], Elinor Cunningham, wife of Henry Cunningham, and Ann Alexander wife of Thomas Alexander. To Ross Mitchell's daughter Mary Mitchell. Executors: Thomas Holt, Samuel Laird, William Lyon, Esq. Witnessess: John David, John McKee, Ephraim Steel. As an aside: Thomas Holt born in 1733 and baptized in 1733 in PHil, died suddenly of a gunshot wound received while he and his half brother Robert Buchanan were shooting targets in the summer of 1777. Dorcas Holt Buchanan (2nd husband Arthur BUCHANAN) is the mother of Thomas HOLT with 1st husband Henry HOLT) is honored by Mifflin County as being the first white woman to bring her family to the county. Thomas HOLT was a silversmith in Carlisle at one time.
