I thought some one might be interested in knowing that the john jacob MATTER, we have been discussing in several earlier notes, was indeed one of the early Matters to leave New Holland, Earl Township, Lancaster Co., cross the wide Susguehanna River and settle in Cumberland County. That would seem to so from the folowing census records - and the cemetery records posted earlier.
