    3. Crist discussed the Poplar Church Cemetery (used as early as 1784-considered full by the 1850's) and the "newer cemetery" which originated as a private burying ground for John Bowman the elder and his relatives. (pages 69-70). I have not spotted any discussion of the Oyster Point Cemetery in the book. The Bowman cemetery was set up in John Bowman's will, "probated" according to Crist in 1843. This is what became the Camp Hill Cemetery. The earlier Poplar Church cemetery is on a modern map as Poplar Grove Cemetery and is on 21st, past the Holy Sprit Hospital. I am not sure what Crist means by using "probated" in this context, since that is a 20th century usage. Crist may be referring to registering the will (Registrar's Will Index) or Court orders entered in Orphans Court Dockets for that year. The will index will not reference OC proceedings. I believe unified Probate or Estate files were not adopted until 1947 or about then. I also found a reference on page 33 to a 1787 deed from Physick to Ann Herschberger, 99 acres of lot 23. It does not say exactly where on lot 23, but identifies a late deed of another part of lot 23 , in 1791, bounded by the Lisburn Road (32nd). Sorry, I have no idea if any copies of the book are currently available. A reprint would be great.
