    1. [PACUMBER] 1750-70 Carlisle area: Nickols, McNickle, Nicholson

    3. I am looking specifically for a Culbert/Calbert/Cuthbert NICHOLSON with wife Jannet CANDOR and several children resident in Carlisle area ca late 1750s through at least 1765. I have found one taxlist entry, a few jury lists, and perhaps one Cumberland petition in the late 1750s with Culbert NICHOLSON listed but no deeds, church lists, court docs, etc. However, Culbert may be part of a larger clan of Nichol*/McNickles families in the area. The CANDOR surname seems connected as well to the HALL, RODDY, and MONTGOMERY lines. One NICHOLSON son married a JACK; in NC the families are somehow connected with the CUMMINS and CORUM and VARNER families too. Culbert NICHOLSON and Jannet CANDOR married 1736 at First Presbyterian in Philadelphia. Their probable oldest children (known names John, Joseph, George) may have married in Carlisle. No daughters known, Family moved to Mecklenburg Co., NC, by winter 1766/67 and further into Wilkes/Oglethorpe/Greene Co., GA, by 1800. Anne
