    3. I am sorry to intrude upon your correspondence, but I am very curious about an Alexander Laughlin of Cumberland County who witnessed the wills of l. James Kilgore who died 1771 in Cumberland Co and 2. Elizabeth Kilgore, his wife, who wrote her will in 1782 in Cumberland Co. Is your Alexander (Mc)Laughlin the same person? And can you tell me a little about him? 3. Dear Rita, As I understand it, McLaughlin was the original spelling, but some dropped the prefix upon coming to America. There were Laughlins in the Mifflin/Newton Twps. (Cumberland) area at the same time as the McLaughlins, but my information is too scant to tell if they were related. The only record I have of Alexander McLaughlin was in 1790 at Big Spring Presbyterian Church where he is listed as renting a pew. I believe he was the brother of our Daniel McLaughlin whose name is also on the list along with a Hugh McLaughlin. All three were, we think, sons of Hugh McLaughlin Sr. who died about 1775. Sorry I can't be of more help. Will let you know if I come across anything that might be of help...
