    2. Joe Patterson is correct. The town of Walnut Bottom (also called Jacksonville for many years) is currently in South Newton Twp, which was taken out of Newton Twp. which was taken out of Hopewell Twp. This village (had six house in 1819) went through the following name changes: Frystown, Canada, Jacksonville, and Walnut Bottom. It is important to note that Walnut Bottom is also the name of the road which runs from Carlisle to Shippensburg. So, if your historical notation states that John Doe lived along, near, or on the Walnut Bottom , it may mean a township other than Newton.
