Connie, Thanks for the information. I had very little on Jacob Rupley but what you sent matches up with the a letter I copied at the Lancaster Historical Society that listed Jacob's Father as Ulrich Rupley. It's interesting to know where they came from. Jacobs son Jacob Rupley b. 1755 is mentioned in a book I was just looking through, "Pastors and People - German and Lutheran Reformed Churches in the Pennsylvania Field, 1717-1793" by Charles H. Glatfelter. In the chapter on Cumberland Co. it reads: MANOR - This Lutheran congregation in East Pennsborough township dated from the 1780's. On April 12, 1793 George Wormley and Adam Kreitzer deeded two and one half arcs in East Pennsborough township to Jacob Wormley and Jacob Rupley, in trust, "for the use of the members in Communion with the Church or School commonly called the Manor Church....." The date is just after the death of Jacob Sr. Another name for the church was Poplar church. Jacob Rupley b. 1724 is also mentioned in a book I have called, "Cloth and Costume 1750 to 1800, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania". On page 21 it reads: Jacob Rupley, a German farmer, lived in East Pennsborough Township. His inventory taken in 1793 refers to " nineteen dozen of linen yarn for family use" and fourteen and one half pounds of tow yarn. I'd be interested in seeing his entire inventory. Marcia Fronk
