Has anyone ever run into the name Meax or Meeks in Cumberland? It's used as a middle name in my family but I have never found out where it came from. If the naming pattern holds, it should be the surname of a grandmother from the 1700s in Perry County, but I've never seen it in the records. Baxter Meax Kindle was born in 1842 in Ohio, of Perry County PA families. Baxter is the surname of his great-grandmother, so it seems probable that Meax was another family surname.
