    1. Re: Peter Dull 1758-1815
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3533.2.1.1 Message Board Post: That makes sense. There are a lot of Dull, Doll, Diehl, etc... in PA, so the birthdate becomes critical. There is a John Dull b. 5-20-1753 PA who married Elizabeth Putnam, according to the DAR Patriot index (which is not necessarily proven). My ancestor is listed as Peter Diehl in the Patriot Index, but was Johann Peter Diehl, b. 8-8-1761 PA. The children are: Elizabeth, Daniel, Catherine, George, Sarah, Anna Mary (my ancestor), Adam, Susanna, and Jacob. With the variations of this last name, there are a lot of possibilities for "Peter" and/or "Johann" (John). Because of the birthdate of your Johannes, I think it is possible he may be one of the "John Dull" 1812 soldiers with service records listed at ancestry. There are two. It may be the same man who served in two different PA regiments. NARA may have a pension and/or bounty land records for that soldier(s) if you're lucky. But they are closed right now and probably will be for the rest of the week, due to the flooding that we had in D.C. You might want to check Virgil White's 1812 pension index book and see if there is a John Dull listed in it, in case you want to pursue those records later.
