I see in the 1870 Federal Census for Pennsylvania, Cumberland County, South Middleton, the family of George (age 48) & Sarah WONDERLY, and a Margaret WONDERLY (age 59). I am trying to trace a Margaret WUNDERLE (b. about 1815, Hesse-Darmstadt) who married (place/date unknown) Xavier REINFRIED. They had a daughter, Margaret, baptized in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Pittsburgh, 26 July, 1835 (sponsors: Georg WUNDERLE & Margaret WUNDERLE). The Xavier & Margaret [WUNDERLE] REINFRIED family shows up next in Dubuque, Iowa, in the 1836 Iowa Territorial Census. The Dubuque Daily Times 1871 obituary for Mrs. Xavier REINFRIED [Margaret WUNDERLE] says she "was a native of Germany, and came west at an early age, reaching St. Louis in 1830." I have been unable to document Margaret in St. Louis. I have been unable to find any information about the sponsors Georg & Margaret WUNDERLE. Does anyone have info about WUNDERLE/WONDERLY families in Cumberland County? Dan Daniel J. Kortenkamp Stevens Point, WI http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dk/danielpg.htm
