The 1778 Index to Cumberland County taxes; William, Archibald, and Widow MAHAN listed in Lurgan Twp. David MAHAN in Hopewell Twp John and John, Jr. MAHAN in Letterkenny Twp. The 1798 Window Tax record: Archibald and two Davids are listed in Southampton Twp. Note all of the above townships border on each other. Archibald had a currying shop and bark house. David had a still house and malt house. The Middle Spring Presbyterian Church records: There were nine MAHANs listed, so this was their church, the FIRST Presbyterain Church to be established in Cumberland County in 1738!.
