According to the Heritage Quest Online's census index, these are the Gardner listings for Cumberland in 1800, 1810, 1820: GARDNER JONATHAN JR PA CUMBERLAND TOBOYNE 1800 GARDNER WILLIAM PA CUMBERLAND ALLEN 1800 GARDNER DAVID PA CUMBERLAND MIDDLETON TWP 1810 GARDNER JOHN PA CUMBERLAND TOBOYNE TWP 1810 GARDNER PHILIP PA CUMBERLAND MIDDLETON TWP 1810 GARDNER WILLIAM PA CUMBERLAND ALLEN TWP 1810 No Gardner listings were shown in 1820 Cumberland; one is shown in Bedford: GARDNER ABRAHAM PA BEDFORD COLERAIN 1820 I pulled up the all the index listings for 1820 Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA, and did not find even a "mangled" version of Gardner. Maybe one of the 1810 listings is a possibility. Good luck with your search!
