They came from Berks County, PA. Jacob and Mary had 8 children. I am directly descended from Mary Ann Hess b. 6 May 1830 who married John Benjamin Hocker. I have their descendents. I'm currently trying to put the siblings of Mary Ann and their families together and this is what I have. David Hess born 1825, Lydia Hess born 1827, Jacob Hess b. OCt 1828 married Eliza?. Anna Elizabeth Hess b. 10 Mar 1832 married Cyrus Anson Goodhart. Thomas Hess b. 1836 married Agnes Drucilla Goodhart. Peter Hess b. 1839 (can't find him after 1860) and finally Margaret b. 7 Jan 1841 married Lewis Bishop. Most of these children seemed to have stayed in Cumberland and had many children. Mostly girls. I would love to know if their are Goodhart and Bishop descendents that may have family info to share or pictures from the late 19th and early 20th century's. Jacob Hess' ancestry is well documented but who is his wife Mary? She could possibly be Polly Bilfeld but there is another dead end. Polly was the most common nickname for Mary.
