Jean and others have told me the York County Archives held Conrad Ginther's will, probated February 28, 1828, and orphan court papers. The archivist sent me the will first and it may be summed up as follows: Conrad Ginther did not mention his wife nor any sons. He gave his house and two lots in the town of Mountpleasant (Managhan Township) to his unmarried sister, Catharina. He gave $100 to each of his daughters, Throaday, widow of Philip Benedick, and Christina wife of Martin Kindig. The balance to his brother, George. He named friend John Jacoby of Conewago Township executor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a Daniel Kinder in Cumberland County who I had reason to speculate came from York County, but since Daniel was not mentioned in this will I told the Archivist that I did not need the Orphan's Court papers. But when I discovered they had already copied them I said OK send them. (This is one of the most efficient, friendly sources I have ever known, and I very gladly paid for the Orphan's Court papers - even though I did not imagine they would be of any help.) Very surprising to me in those court papers - Daniel Ginter and his wife Catharine in May 1834 began an action to bring John Jacoby to the court to report on his handling of the estate. Daniel said he was an heir and that Jacoby was wasting and mismanaging the estate. The court accepted his statement and ordered Jacoby to file his administrative account - eventually in January 1835 the court ordered the Sheriff to bring Jacoby in on contempt charges. There were no further papers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So by this unusual circumstance I found a Daniel who could be and probably is the Daniel Kinder of Cumberland County. I suppose the only way he could be an heir is if he were the son of George and George has died - no will of George has been reported so I suppose he died intestate. There is only a George Giunder in the 1800 Manchester census (20010//3001), and no Conrad that we can find in York County census by any similar name. In the 1810 census no George in Manchester but a George Kinder in Dover Township (00001//00110). We assume the Conrad Ginter who wrote the 1828 will is the Conrad Kinder in Manchester 1810 census. And there is a Jacob Kinder in 1810 census York County, Manchester Township, Pennsylvania, page #: 162 (2 1 00 1 // 0 0 1 3 1 the male 16-18 block is not included) In 1820 Daniel Kinder is in Allen Township, Cumberland County. We found no George nor Conrad in York County by any name variation. They are both probably in York County, but we can not find them. Listers have sent me church records of Gunther vs sp early years in York County - 1750's that are very this Conrad or his ancestors - can not make a firm connection. Regards to the list: Hal
