    1. [PACUMBER] Daniel CROWL Obit
    2. Hello Listers. I am trying to locate an obituary for my wife's great grandfather, Daniel CROWL and his wife, Alice. Here is what I know about them: 1. He was born in September 1861and married Alice BOWMAN in 1886. She was born in October 1860. 2. They are enumerated in the 1900 Census, living in Upper Allen Twp with their children: Bella M., Esther R., Gertrude, and Leroy. 3. The 1910 finds Daniel and Alice still in Upper Allen Twp., with children: Samuel, Gertrude M., and Esther with her husband, John Hollinger and their daughter, Maude E. Hollinger. 4. According to her headstone in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Alice (Bowman) CROWL died in 1918. 5. In the 1920 Census, Daniel CROWL is living in Upper Allen Twp. with daughter Esther Hollinger and her family. 6. In the 1930 Census, Daniel is found still living in Upper Allen Twp., but with his son Roy L. CROWL and his family. 7. According to his headstone in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery, he died in 1956. I feel that the obituaries would be valuable in ascertaining their parents names. I suspect that Daniel is the son of William H. CROWL whom I find in the 1880 Census in Monaghan Twp in York Co., PA. There are too many Bowmans to be certain I've found my Alice in the 1880 Census ... there are a few possibilities, though and parents names would pinpoint her. With only the years of their deaths, how can I find obituaries for Daniel in 1956, and Alice in 1918. Does Pennsylvania have a searchable death index? As I'm writing this, the thought occurs to me that the cemetry might have interment dates for Daniel and Alice which would narrow it down quite a bit. I will call them ... any other suggestions? Are there any genealogical societies that will do obituary searches? Thanks for your help. Bob
