    2. Hello Debra. I noticed the possible Belmina - Bella connection, too ... looks promising. Since the Alice BOWMAN you found in 1870 & 1880 was living in Shiremanstown in Cumberland County, and the 1900 census shows Daniel & Alice living in the same town with their four children, I would think they were married there. Didn't marriages usually take place in the bride's church? How would I locate a marriage record for them? ... do I contact the registrar in Shiremanstown? ... or the State of PA? Thanks again. Bob

    3. Bob, I just noticed your question on location of marriages. Marriage IN a church seems to be a fairly recent practice. Some were held in the church rectory/parsonage etc. Not that many in the church sanctuary. During the late 1800's many were held in the home of a family member or relative.
