I'm searching for vital info (death date, obit, death certificate, etc.) on my grandmother's great uncle, George W. Thompson who was born in Carlisle, Cumberland CO, PA about 1843. He was the son of Mathew and Ursula (unknown maiden name) Thompson who are listed on the US Census in Carlisle in 1860 and 1870. Their other children were Ann E., David, and Mary C. Thompson. My grandmother was Ann E. Thompson's granddaughter. Ann E. and her daughter, Mary Minerva Thomas moved to Massachusetts in the late 1860's. George W Thompson married someone name Sarah J. (unknown) in 1866 and had 4 sons. Edward E. Thompson - born about 1867 William E. Thompson - born about 1868 (in the Army in the 1890's) George W. Jr. - born about 1874 who married Gertie Miller and moved to Harrisburg Charles Thompson - born about 1878 All 4 sons born in Carlisle I think. George W Thompson and wife Sarah are listed in the Federal Census in Carlisle in 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910. The 2 oldest sons (Edward and William) are listed with the parents in all years. No reference to Charles after 1880 (may have died young). I lose track of everyone except George Jr. after 1910. My grandmother always said someone in the Thompson line was of Native American Indian descent but she didn't know who or what tribe.
