    3. Hello Pam, I am not an Arthurs descendant but have some information about a Joseph Arthur who lived in Cumberland County and was a part owner of the Pine Grove Iron Furnace there. He later moved to Shenandoah County Va and continued to own furnaces in VA. There may be a connection to John Arthur also. If you believe that your Arthurs could also be Arthur, then I might have some more information on where they went from Cumberland County VA. I am only interested in the Arthur family because my ancestor, John Glenn b. 1771, worked for the Pine Grove Furnace in Cumberland County PA and later followed the Arthur family to Shenandoah/Page Counties VA where he worked at the Isabella Furnace. He must have thought a lot of Joseph Arthur because he named one of his sons Joseph Arthur Glenn. Let me know if you think this might connect, and I'll send you what I have. Joy Pine Grove Furnace Owner/Ironmaster Histories 9 JOHN ARTHUR • Joseph Thornburg and his wife, Rebecca conveyed their interest in the land previously acquired from Jacob Simeon and his wife, Anna to Thomas Thornburg and John Arthur by deed, dated 22 Dec 1788. 1 • Operated the Pine Grove Furnace until about 1800, when Ege, Thornburg and Arthur seemed to have disagreed and various law suits were entered against Michael and Peter Ege, which continued until about 1810, when an agreement was arrived as to refer the matters in dispute to Robert Coleman, another well-known ironmaster. 1 (Warwick Furnace). • In an agreement signed by David Watts for Thornburg and Arthur, and by Michael Ege, on 7 Nov 1810, Pine Grove Furnace with all its accumulated acreage of woodland was put up at public sale by order of the Court. 1 • Married: 8 Dec 1789 Margaret Atherly, Third Presbyterian Church, Phila, PA. • Children: o Isabella Arthur2,4 Born: 10 Oct 1765, Caroline County, VA. William Arthurs Inventory dated 17 Feb.1786 lists clothing,a Bible, items suggesting he was not married at this time. Seeking information on the Arthurs in Carlisle,Cumberland Co.,PA.
