    1. [PACUMBER] Good, John M - Cumberland County, PA
    2. Terry Good
    3. Does anyone have any information on John M. Good, a member of one of my family trees who lived in Cumberland County during the 1800s. His wife was named Maria and his children were named: Hiram, Anna, John and Emma. So far, with the assistance of Joe Patterson of the Cumberland County USGenWeb project and the Mennonite Historical Society, I have found him and his family in the following years living in Cumberland County, with one exception: 1845 purchased land in South Middleton 1847 purchased land in South Middleton 1850 Census living in South Middleton 1852 with land and a distillery 1856 as a tenant 1857 with 30 acres and a distillery. 1859 freeholder with 28 acres. 1860 Census living in Mount Holly Springs, Cumberland County 1870 Census living in Huntington, Adams County 1880 Census living in Mount Holly Springs, Cumberland County According to the 1850 Census, he was born about 1816 in Pennsylvania. The 1790 Cumberland County Census shows three Goods, Peter, Patrick and Edward. residing in Cumberland County. On the 1800 Census there are an Edward and two Peters. I have the 1807 will on one Peter that seems to rule out JMG as a child of his. However, this Peter does have a child, John, who conceivably could be the father of JMG. I believe this John Good to be the one appearing on the 1810 and 1820 Censuses living in Cumberland County in the borough of West Pennsboro which is later renamed South Middleton. I find no Good living in Cumberland County on the 1830 Census. The other Peter on the 1800 Census could be John's father. But I don't have enough information to go forward with this search. I have not pursued Patrick or Edward. Nor have I looked at the census for 1840.
