Hello Fellow Listers: The Perry Historians is hosting their first Special Presentation of the year on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the upstairs of the Hoverter Archives at The Perry Historians' Harry Lenig Library. Our special speaker, Mr. Richard Geidel will be speaking on the Wallis Site Dig, located near the Wallis Family Homestead along Rt.11/15 at Liverpool. Mr. Geidel served as the Project Manager for the archaeological excavations of the Wallis Site (36Pe16) by KCI Technologies, Inc. for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Artifacts dating back thousands of years were found at this site showing pre-historic occupation during periods when the Susquehanna River was at a lower height than present-day. Richard Geidel is a Registered Professional Archaeologist with over 34 years experience directing and managing archaeological and historic preservation projects. Most of his career has focused on archaeology in Pennsylvania, but he also has worked throughout the eastern United States and in Alaska. Currently he is an Archaeologist with Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc., in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and President of the Pennsylvania Archaeological Council, a statewide organization of professional archaeologists dedicated to promoting Pennsylvania archaeology, and protecting and preserving the Commonwealth's rich archaeological heritage. This FREE presentation is open to the public. ALL are welcome! Light refreshments served following the presentation.
